ity lifestyle is highly convenient and local communities and the government usually work on making it better.

To begin

with, cities provide more opportunities than small country towns. The offices of the companies, which offer an interesting job with prospective career growth, are mainly located in the urban areas.

Moreover

, it easier to find the entertainments, starting from small concerts to fascinating theatres play and unusual exhibitions.

For example

, thousands of people go to the concerts which famous music artists conduct mainly in big cities as all the necessary equipment could be easily delivered or found there.

Furthermore

, the overall quality of

life

is better because cities are supplied with facilities.

On the other hand

, the opinion that

city

living is stressful is understandable because,

for example

, hard traffic could ruin all the plans for a day. Fortunately, the transport system suggests various means of transport and ways to get to a needed place in time. Some people

also

claim that cities are polluted with noise and lightning. The federal and local government implement laws that tackle

this

issue.

Additionally

, many devices

as extremely dark curtains could help with the outside lights.

In conclusion, even though

Thus

City living in 21st century is stressful and offers no advantages, to what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

IELTS Sample essay – City living in 21st century is stressful and offers no advantage

Living in large cities can be quite stressful especially in the 21st century. Cities can get over crowded, polluted and lack green spaces. This is largely due to increasing population of cities all over the world. There could be some advantages of living in cities particularly if the countryside lacks infrastructure and economic opportunities. People usually move to urban areas to find jobs and access better facilities.
Nowadays that has changed significantly, as more and more people settle there is a tremendous burden on the fragile transport systems, public utilities and housing. In some cities of Asia like Ho chi minh, Mumbai and Manila the quality of life is worse than smaller towns and villages. The level of air pollution in Chinese cities is causing health problems for the people. It has become very stressful to live in a large city. The benefits have eroded and there is less comfort. It is more of a struggle than an advantage. This scenario is true in not just the third world but also in the first world. It is not very different in New York city or London.
There are other problems for city residents as well. Urban crime is on the rise, the safety of city dwellers is at a risk. There is widespread urban poverty due to unemployment and migration. If city living is compared to rural life, the later would seem extremely attractive. That is because many villages and small towns offer good environment, peaceful neighborhoods and good basic facilities although there may not be high paying jobs.
Overall, the benefits of living away from cities outweighs those of living in large cities.

City living in the 21st century is stressful and offers no advantages.

Modern technological and industrial progress has led to a crucial development of our world, that especially affected living in cities. However, it is believed that living in a megalopolis can only cause stress and some other drawbacks. I do not fully agree with this statement because to my view advantages overweigh disadvantages.

To begin, there is no doubt that living in a city may become problematic for some people. For example, noise pollution is a one of the problems, that negatively affects mental health and causes stress. Also, industrial development resulted in an air pollution that is a crucial issue for many cities, especially in China.

Nevertheless, city living provides several vital benefits for citizens. Firstly, there are plenty of work opportunities in an urban environment, that is a great advantage for the middle-aged. Furthermore, a level of education is also higher because most of prestigious universities and schools are located in bigger cities.

Moreover, lack of greenery may be considered as a drawback, but number of governments greatly deals with this issue by developing park zones, such as Central Park in New York. Also, even though there are traffic congestions on roads, megalopolises have convenient public transportation systems, that allows citizens to commute to work in a short period of time

In conclusion, urban life experienced many changes in the last century, and some of them had negative impact on our lives, yet I believe that city living serves significant advantages to its dwellers and with the development of technologies it will be possible in the future to have a crucial improvement in the problematic areas.

City living in the 21st century is stressful and offers no advantages. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

In my opinion living in a 21st-century city presents more disadvanges than advantages, even though nowadays cities are widely thought to be the place to live.

One of the first disadvatanges I can think of is traffic. Traffic itself is a cause of stress among drivers and citizens in general. A moltitude of cars in the same place is more likely to be caught into accidents. Therefore traffic may be considered dangerous. Traffic also affects the environment, causing pollition, noise and possible consequent diseases, such as asthma. Last winter, Milan, second largest city in Italy, had to face serious problems, due to the high level of pollution and the absence of rain for several weeks.

It is almost a matter of fact that cities are over-crowded nowadays. People living in large cities may feel stressed by the general chaos, for example when using public transport. It is true that there are plenty of facilities in big cities, but it might be difficult for them to be of some benefit to all citizens. Over-crowding often affect cities by making them dirty, for instance, from my personal experience, London, Sydney and Paris. Big cities are also believed to be dangerous and more exposed to crimes than towns, but a recent study showed that Melbourne, second largest city in Australia, is the safest and most livable city in the world, and I agree with it.

Large cities may lack of affordable housing and rents might be too high for an average income. Bills, food, transport and the overall cost of living are sometimes extremely expensive. This can lead to an increasing criminality, and it might be a reason why some people prefer to live in smaller cities or towns. As stated, cities are sometimes expensive, but on the other hand they offer more job opportunities and sometimes jobs in big cities are better paid than anywhere else.

Concluding, I believe today’s cities are stressful and chaotic and I agree they offer few advantages.

It is generally argued that living in a city means leading an agitating life where everyone oftentimes is extremely busy. Then again, modern cities never lack the variety of oppprtunities that might suit any lifestyle. When it comes to shopping, city inhabitants have the virtue of large luxurious shopping centres that supply whatever one needs in a single well designed place. Additionally a city accomedates a wide selection of reatil from high end very expensive yet famous brands to ones that are easy on the pocket, granting a choice for people of different finicial circumstances.

At the same time, cities are known to be very crowded and noisy considering that they sustain a very large population, but in my opinion struggling to find a parking lot for your car is hardly a problem when you look at the virtue of modern city life. In any case you can always use the often considerably well managed public transport system serving your city.
To sum up, I consider city living to be easier, more amusing and always offering new experiences which in my view makes rural lifestyle quite boring.

    Life Essay Topic

Today, city living is both stressful and devoid of benefits.
To what extent do you agree/disagree?

Life Essay — Life In The City

Urban populations continue to grow all over the world. This growth is due to many factors; however, it is inaccurate to say that living in a city is stressful and offers no benefits. While some people may find the pace of city life not as relaxing as that of the suburbs or living in the country, in general, the opportunities available in cities far outweigh any perceived disadvantages related to stress.

A city can offer its inhabitants a wealth of experiences, facilities, and opportunities that are unavailable in other areas such as towns and villages. From health services, educational institutions, museums, and concert halls to more employment prospects and shopping opportunities; the scale of a city allows it to provide something for everyone’s tastes and interests.

People born in a city never question whether it is stressful or not; this is a perception of people who transition to a city from the outside. There is more noise, traffic, and the hustle and bustle of city life might seem strange at first and certainly more stressful than living in the country. However, this is simply a comparative perception. Those people who are born city dwellers would never complain that it is too stressful.

Most cities also have parks and green zones, which serve two purposes. Firstly, they provide a quieter place for people to relax and enjoy a change of scenery, and secondly, they provide noise reduction as the greenery absorbs some of the background ambient noise of the city. This provides a taste of nature within the city center – and an opportunity to de-stress, for those who feel they might need it.

Overall, in my opinion, the fact that a person living in a city can avail themselves of any service or facility and enjoy all the offerings within such a compact space is a far bigger advantage than any perceived level of stress associated with city living.

How would you answer this essay question about city living in the 21st century?

    • — If you could choose between living in the capital city of your own country or a small village, which one would you choose? Why?

Nowadays cities are full of different vehicles. Some people think that cars are essential thing for our civilization, but at the same time there are those who oppose this idea. They believe vehicles have made city life much more complicated.

On the one hand, cars are extremely beneficial for us today. No matter where are we heading to we use personal or public transport, because we don’t have enough time on going on foot. Besides, heading to some place by car or another vehicle is much more comfortable than old way of getting to some place.

However, on the other hand, cars have brought some problems in city life. First of all, they are the main cause of traffic jams on the roads, so even, for example, cyclists have to waste their time standing in long chain of cars. Secondly, vehicles spoil the air with traffic fumes; therefore the environment and also city dwellers are suffering from polluted air.

Taking into consideration all views on this problem, in conclusion I would like say that, to my mind, despite all disadvantages of cars we can’t stop to use them, because they are a must for our civilization. Nevertheless, we should try to solve problems, which vehicles are bringing to cities.

It is often believed that living in a big city is a great opportunity for young man, but others think differently.

There is no doubt that a big city can offer to children a huge variety of different capabilities and this is definitely the wonderful advantage. Young people can express themselves by joining some clubs; they also can enter prestigious university and get after an excellent education. What is more, people in a big city always can get qualified medical care, which is really beneficial.

Nevertheless, living in a big city has some disadvantages. Firstly, life in city is dangerous, and it is more unsafe for children and young people as they are, as a rule, careless and happy-go-lucky. Secondly, in a city men almost every day are under pressure, because they have to face with other people everywhere: on the roads, in parks, in shops, etc., which can be quite stressful.

To sum it up, I think that it is better to live in the countryside, because nowadays everyone has the access to the Internet, where you can find all necessary information and you can just educate by yourself. Big cities are too stressful for our health especially for children’s health.
