Some people think that extreme sports are safe enough, whereas others do not agree. They consider them extremely dangerous.

I think that extreme sports are quite safe. First of all, they help to develop particular skills to feel safe in diverse situations. These particular skills are attention, good reflexes, balance and so on. Second, sports like car racing or jumping from huge cliffs take a lot of preparation not to make a fatal mistake. If people follow all the instructions they are totally safe.

At the same time there are people who say that all extreme sports can hurt one’s health and they have to be forbidden. A lot of people have lost their lives doing these sports.

Well, one can hurt his health doing any sport. It does not mean that people should give up exercising because of some potential danger. Over exercising, can also lead to serious traumas no mater what you do. Nevertheless, if people follow all the instructions, they will usually be quite safe.

In conclusion, I would like to say that there are a lot of unsafe things around and extreme sports are not an exception. I do not think that a person can avoid all dangerous situations in his or her life. Thus, I strongly believe that it is better to be prepared for them and extreme sports can help people with it.

Animals should never be kept in zoos .

In today’s world zoos have become one of the main entertainments in many cities and towns. People like watching rare, wild, dangerous animals. However, there are those who are sure that it is not right to keep animals in captivity.

In my opinion , by keeping endangered species in zoos, we make sure that they survive. First of all, many modern zoos spend a lot of time, money and energy trying to protect animal species. Consequently, they recreate the conditions like in their natural environment, save animals from extinction. For example , think about giant pandas in Chinese zoos. Secondly, zoos provide people with a unique learning experience. For this reason, people come to the zoo to see those species of animals they would probably never have a chance to see in this area.

On the other hand, some people argue that it is never good to take animals from their natural surroundings. They often suffer because of lack of comfort in small cages, become depressed or go mad .

Цель урока:

Формирование коммуникативной  компетенции  по теме: научить употреблять изучаемую лексику ,практиковать  в  неподготовленном  аргументированном письменном высказывании (эссе);

Задачи урока:

•                 практическая: развитие умения аудирования с целью извлечения информации; развитие умения читать с целью извлечения нужной или интересующей информации; формировать письменную речевую деятельность учащихся на базе изученной и новой лексики, формировать умение структурировать письменное высказывание в форме эссе;
•                 развивающая: развивать память и мыслительную деятельность учащихся, развитие способности к анализу, обобщению, развитие способности к языковой догадке в целях расширения их потенциального лексического запаса, развивать умения аргументировать свою точку зрения, делать вывод, подводить итоги;

• In its favor, an extreme sport helps a person to be strong, to live a healthy lifestyle and keep shape.
• In addition extreme sport exercise will power and teaches us to work as a team.
• It is very traumatic and dangerous sport for life.
• Extreme sports require a lot of money to travel around the world and purchase equipment.
• An extreme sport requires a lot of time to train and it’s hard to find a place for it in life.
• Some people are attracted to dangerous sports because  they want to get an adrenalin buzz from them.
• These people simply like taking risks – they get high on it. They like challenging their abilities and pushing themselves to the limit.
• They may also be able to build a long term career associated with their particular sport;
• The most obvious is to ensure that these sports are carried out under the correct supervision, by experienced and qualified personnel in a well suited environment.
• All possible safety precautions should be taken whenever necessary to guarantee the safety of both participants and spectators.
• While many things could be done to reduce some of the risks involved, it is highly unlikely that the ‘risk’ could be eliminated altogether.

Extreme sports are popular all over the UK. Not just in the mountains of Snowdonia or Scotland. But what attracts people to these sports? Is it adventure or danger?  People who enjoy fast and dangerous sports, like white-water rafting, are called thrill seekers or adrenalin junkies.  I’m at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham in the centre of England and this is the white-water course. Seven hundred metres of foaming water with drops or rapids. And the skill is to stay afloat in the rough water.  I’m here to meet Pas Blackwell, a white-water rafting expert, and to find out why so many people enjoy the thrills and spills of this extreme sport.  Carmen: Hi, Pas.  Pas: Hi, Carmen.  Carmen: So this is a specially built course, but you raft on rapids all around the world. What do you most enjoy about white-water rafting?  Pas: I really enjoy being outdoors and on the water. I really enjoy the freedom of just you and nature and I really enjoy the challenge.  Carmen: So why do people like dangerous sports?    Pas: I think people like to push themselves – to see how far they can go – to really test themselves, against the elements, water and air.  Carmen: So, are you an adrenalin junkie?  Pas: I don’t think of myself as an adrenalin junkie, but I do really enjoy the rush of trying to get from the top to the bottom and get through situations that occur out on the river.  …..  In the countryside there are lots of wide open spaces and lots of extreme sports to choose from. But what do adrenalin junkies do in the city? Well, parkour, sometimes called free running, is becoming popular in London.  Parkour started in France. And the idea is to get from one place to the other as fast as possible; jumping and climbing over whatever is in the way. So I’ve come to a parkour class in West London to find out what it’s all about. Rebecca Ahmed has been doing parkour for more than a year.  Carmen: So Rebecca, why do you like parkour?  Rebecca: It’s really fun, it’s original and it keeps me fit. That’s why I come.  Carmen: Do you need any special equipment?  Rebecca: Not really, we just use what’s around us like steps, railings and trees, but as long as you’ve got a good pair of trainers, you’re fine.  Carmen: Is it difficult?  Rebecca: I wouldn’t say it’s difficult – it’s more about the fear. If you’re not scared you can do it.  I’m not sure I’ve got the balance for parkour. Extreme sports can be dangerous, but they’re also lots of fun.
