Several days ago I watched a British crime thriller the “Legend”. Brian Helgeland is the scriptwriter and the director of the film as well. It is adapted from a book “The Profession of Violence: The Rise and Fall of the Kray Twins” which is based on a real story.

The film tells about the life of twin brothers, Reggie and Ronnie Kray, who were violent and vulgar gangsters. They also were iconic figures in the criminal environment of London in 1960s. They headed the most influential gang of bandits of the East-End.

They strongarmed, attempted assassination and killed several crime bosses. They also owned a nightclub where came even Hollywood stars. However, it is not easy to be a criminal and it is impossible to give up the crime. It destroyed their lives and they both ended in jail and died alone having lost everything they had and loved.

The film is very fascinating and it is a pleasure to watch it even if the plot is rather cruel and heavy. Each part of the movie completes the picture. When you watch it, you dig into the atmosphere by means of sounds, music, costumes, and decorations.

Everything is well-orchestrated and the actor that plays the main role is extremely talented. Tom Hardy plays both brothers which have absolutely different characters and personalities. And Hardy acts fantastically!

The “Legend” is definitely one of the greatest films I have ever seen. It can win all hearts!

Все тщательно продумано,  и актер, сыгравший главную роль, необыкновенно талантлив. Том Харди играет обоих братьев, совершенно не похожих личностей с различными характерами. И Харди играет фантастически!

«Легенда» — определенно один из лучших фильмов, что я видела. Он в состоянии покорить сердца всех людей!

The Review on the Film «Avatar» by James Cameron (образец)

The main film of the year 2009 is «Avatar» by James Cameron, the producer of such films as «Terminator», «Titanic», «The Strangers». This film ranks with above-mentioned world-famous films and probably belongs to the science-fiction genre.

The action of the film is set on the planet Pandora in the year of 3000. The plot is rather simple: the super hero Avatar is to save the alien planet and to fulfill this mission he struggles with a lot of difficulties.

The main character, Jack Sally, is a disabled navy who has just come back from the war. The film starts with the scene when he is invited to take part in a secret expedition to the planet, inhabited by weird creatures. Thus, he becomes the part of the programme called Avatar. Being turned into a a three-metre giant with blue skin, he is sent to the planet with the help of special «drivers» that link his mind to the mind of Avatar.

What impressed me most is the spectacular world of aliens that we, the audience, see through the eyes of the main character. The special effects and 3D technologies enhance the impression of the bright and colourful world in contrast to the human one, which is grey and dying. The plot of the film is fast-moving with some amusing episodes.

For those who are indifferent to the computer graphics, there is another storyline that is love of «the dream worker» to a beautiful female alien, who, being hostile and suspicious at first, falls in love with him. Such love is forbidden and as a result the pair is chased by the aliens. Happily, they managed to escape in the end. To my mind, the brillant acting of Sam Worthingdon, who is starring in the film, is above all expectations.

To sum up, I can say that the film «Avatar» is that kind of film that takes us to a special world beyond imagination. More than that,  it is the film that you want to watch over and over again. Definitely, the new film by Cameron couldn’t be missed.

He is a little boy and he was accidentally left home alone by his family. But he is a very clever and independent kid. He can cook, clean house, do shopping himself. One day he learns, that some robbers want to rob his house. So he decides to protect the house himself. There are a lot of funny scenes in the film. Kevin makes all kinds of tricks and traps. And the robbers fall into the traps. Then Kevin calls the police and they arrest the robbers. After that Kevin cleans the house, and makes a wish. He asks Santa Claus to return his family. And in the end of the film they all come back. When I was a small kid, I wanted to stay at home alone too. But now I know, that it is just a fantasy.

Avatar is the best film of all time for me. It is mainly a science-fiction film but it also has elements of adventure and romance. It is full of fantastic special effects. The main character Jake Sully travels to the distant and beautiful world of Pandora. He meets a woman there and falls in love with her. But greedy and cruel Colonel wants to find precious materials in Pandora and destroy this green land.

The film is super. Don’t miss it! It is worth seeing.

Важно: самих персонажей фильма лучше называть characters; heroes живут во вселенных «Марвел» и DC.

Initially theatres were the only way to get access to the cinema but with the popularity of television and cable TV, watching movies became easier. Everyone today is more or less connected to the cinema. When we see certain incidences shown in movies that we can relate to we naturally let them influence our mind-set and thought process. We even idealize certain characters and scenarios from the movies.

My favourite movie

One of my favourite pastimes, the one I have a particular liking for is going to the cinema.

Among different types of movies (like comedies, romantic dramas, adventures, police dramas or detective movies, psychological thrillers, horror movies or historical films) best of all I like detective movies and romantic dramas because most of such movies are interesting and full of life to me. But I also like good horror movies and I find them quite thrilling since my childhood.

But now I’d like to tell you about the movie that I find most pleasant to watch. It’s called “What Dreams May Come”. It is a 1998 American fantasy drama, starring Robin Williams. The film is based on the 1978 novel of the same name by Richard Matheson and was directed by Vincent Ward.

It’s a beautiful story about a married couple. Chris (Robin Williams) and Annie (Annabella Sciorra) play husband and wife.

They met by chance and fell in love immediately. They have two wonderful kids and a marriage full of love and life. But tragically, one day their kids are taken from them in a car accident.

They hold on to their lives and fight the sorrow, but one day, four years later, Chris’s life is also taken. He ends up in Heaven, but can’t accept his fate. A guide is sent to him, in the form of his friend Albert (Cuba Gooding Jr.).

Albert leads Chris on a journey through Heaven. In the real world, Annie can’t handle Chris’s death, and she kills herself and ends up in Hell. Chris must go on a journey to find her, and save her from an eternity of suffering.

This movie hits all the right chords. It makes you laugh and cry at times. The love Chris has for Annie is stronger than anything you have ever seen. He’s willing to lose his mind, and spend all eternity in Hell with her, with neither of them recognizing the other because they are soul mates, destined to be together for all the time.

This movie is hard to explain in any other way. The journey Chris goes through is remarkable, but the real star of this film is the visuals.

From the opening shot to the closing frame, it is magnificent. The story is enveloping encompassing nearly every asset of human emotion. It’s a roller–coaster ride but rewarding. Comedy, hope, sadness, joy, elation, despair… all displayed perfectly.

It’s a story about everlasting love and dreams that always come true.

We’ve watched many films that I enjoyed but my favourite was one Russian film called “Elki”. It’s a bright New Year comedy, which consists of two parts: “Elki-1” and “Elki-2”. The first movie appeared a year ago and the second one appeared on screens this year. I liked both films because they were excellent. The title “Elki” translated into English means fir-trees.

Traditionally, all Russian families decorate fir-trees on the New Year’s Eve. The biggest fir-tree is put up in Moscow on Red Square. The film shows how families in different cities of the country get ready for the New Year celebration. Some people even get into troublesome but funny situations. There are lots of characters in the movie who find love and friendship.

I liked this film very much because there were many kind and positive moments. There were also some of my favourite actors, such as Ivan Urgant, Sergey Svetlakov, Gosha Kutsenko and others. If you haven’t seen this film yet, I recommend it.

I’d like to speak about the film called «Ice Age». The director of the film is Chris Wedge. The producers are Christopher Meledandri and Lori Forte. The budget of the film is $60.000.000.

Now about the plot of the film. We transfers to the prehistoric age, when people can’t speak. The Earth is ruling by the Mammoths. At then time appears the danger of Ice Age.

At the beginning of the film we see a lot of animals which are going to the south. But some animals, such as mammoths Manfred (the voice of Ray Romano) prefer to live in Ice. This mammoth is very kind, fairly, but lonely.

The second hero is stoat «горностай» Sid (the voice of John Leguizamo). He is very social, Manfred called him a terrible chatterbox. In spite of his small size, he survives in prehistoric age. Sid meets Manfred and the mammoth protects him. Sid becomes Manfred’s friend.

People in this film use pictures as a communication method.

The next hero is Soto, the leader of tigers group. Soto orders Diego, which is one of the tigers, to bring him peoples baby.

After Diego’s attack on the settlement, the mother of the baby with her child jumps to the waterfall. The mother dies, but her baby survives. Manfred and Sid shelter the baby and decide to carry him to the rest of the settlers. The tiger Diego goes with them, he leads them to the tigers group, but he feels sorry to the Manfred and Sid and becomes their friend. Later Diego protects friends from the Soto.

The end of the story is very sentimental. Friends bring the baby to his father and go back.

The film is full of humor. The main humor person is squirrel, but it has no communication with the main plot of the film. It makes a lot of funny situations. I think that this film is a real masterpiece of computer graphics. For my mind every family must see this kind film with children.
