My favourite composer (singer, musician) is… I think he (she) is very talented. I can (not) play an instrument (the piano, the guitar, the violin). It is a great pleasure to be able to play an instrument and I like it a lot.

The Beatles, with their style of singing, eloquent and exciting, is still one of the most popular groups. British groups often set new trends in music. New styles, groups and singers continue to appear. Some of the more recent pop groups are Dire Straits, Eurhythmics and Spice Girls. Many of the new bands have been able to use the changes in technology to develop their music. Computerized drum machines, synthesizers and other electronic instruments are now just as popular as the piano and electric guitars.
Tastes differ. So people’s musical interests range from pop and rock music, which are extremely popular nowadays, especially among young people, to classical music and opera.
My favourite style of music is pop music, because it is breathtaking and full of energy. When I listen to pop music it makes me remember happy times and forget the problems of everyday life. It helps me to relax when I’m tired, and entertains me when I’d like to have fun. My favourite group is Abba. It was formed in 1973 in Sweden. Abba’s cheerful tunes made them international pop stars and one of the most successful groups of the seventies. Their most famous songs («Waterloo», «Money, Money, Money», «Knowing Me, Knowing You», etc.) often topped European charts. Though the group doesn’t exist any more, it is still popular with people of all ages. I can’t but admire their style of singing. I find it fascinating and overwhelming. When I have free time I listen to their records. I also like having background music while I am working.
I don’t mind listening to dance music, especially when I go to disco clubs. This style of music is catchy and I like catchy tunes. It makes me more energetic.
It’s a pity that many young people like to listen only to modern music. As for me, I also enjoy listening to classical music. I find it tuneful and appealing. Classical music is always a complex of emotions. It gives me delight, pleasure and a sense of happiness. Some pieces of classical music are really wonderful. Not long ago I listened to the First Piano Concerto, composed by Tchaikovsky. The power of his music captivated me. The impression was overwhelming.
The music I hate is heavy metal. I find it noisy and dreadful. When I listen to this style of music it presents to my mind pictures of dark days. Though some young people are fond of this style of music, it is not to everyone’s taste. To my mind, music too loud can destroy our ears. I am indifferent to other styles of music. For example, I don’t mind listening to jazz. Improvisation is an important part of this style, that’s why a jazz song may sound a little different each time it is played. I think that jazz is a mixture of many different kinds of music, but I consider it a bit complicated.
My mother and father approve of my tastes in music. Though they prefer to listen to classical and «bard music», they think that, on the whole, modern music is not too bad. My parents agree that each generation has its own tastes.
It goes without saying that music plays a very important role in people’s lives. It reflects our moods and emotions. Music appeals to our hearts and transforms our feelings. It conquers our souls and enriches our minds. Besides, listening to music is the perfect way to spend free time and not to feel bored. You can hardly find a person who doesn’t like or need music and who never sings or dances. Music is beauty in sounds; it is our magic source of inspiration.

The Role of Music in Our Life
There are so many kinds of music in our life. For example, rap and pop music, rock and alternative music, industrial and disco music, drum & bass and techno music, and, of course, classical music.
Different people like different music. The scientists say that they can define your character if they know what music you like. For example, they suppose that people who listen to rock music are very clever and reasonable. British scientists confirm that the most of young people listen to the aggressive music as metal and rock. Scientists say that these people are good students, because of their character and assiduousness. I agree with this statement, because I think that music shows your soul and nature.
As for me, my favorite group is “Linkin Park”. They sing in different styles, such as: alternative, new metal, heavy metal and rock. I like this group because of good texts and unusual musical decisions. This group was formed in 1996. They released 9 albums. I like all their songs without distinction. My favorite song is “In the End”. There are six men in this group: Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda, Rob Burdon, David Farell, Bred Delson and Joe Hahn. The most prominent person of the group is Chester Bennington. He is very talented. Also I like him because he overcame his drug addiction and made his musical career. He writes poems and composes music.
I always adored people who compose music and write poems. I think that such people are very talented. Also I believe that they can draw pictures and show their feelings by their music or poems. They can make you cry or laugh. Moreover they make you think about global problems or you may lie soft and just dream while you are listening to the music.
I guess that we can’t live without music. My motto is: “Silence is killing!” As for me, I always listen to the music, when I’m happy or when I’m unhappy. It helps me in my everyday life. I listen to the music everywhere: at home, in the bus, in the street.
Nowadays we have relaxing music, which we use in medicine. More helpful than all kinds of music is classical music by such famous composers as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Vivaldy.

I am a real lover of music. So are all my friends. Our music preferences are the same and I am very glad about it because we never argue about music. The significant part of my music collection is rock. I like this kind of music. It may seem aggressive but actually it makes me active and helps to wake up in the morning. I like the energy of the rock music.

I like the way of expressing feelings in these kinds of music.

My Favourite Musician
Music plays an important role in our life. We can do many different things and listen to music. I like to cook, to clean the home or garden while music is on.
I like different types of music. I have many favorite songs and even favorite singers. I listen to Russian and English songs. But my favorite musician is Konstantin Meladze.
According me he is an outstanding person. He writes beautiful songs and music. His songs are about love, peace, hope and harmony. I like to listen to them and to have some inspiration. Many singers sing his songs and they are popular in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and many different countries. I like Konstantin and his art.
Another musician that I admire is Igor Krutoi. I can not say that all his songs are good. But they sound completely different from others. Today many singers sing the same songs and lyrics look so similar. But Igor can write a song about love and it’s gonna be a really nice story.
In general I can not say there are many good musicians today. Someone thinks it’s easy to write a poem or a song. But rhyme is not the only thing. There has to be some sense and idea. I guess a good love song can be written only from a love story. The musician needs to have or experience or good imagination.
I would like to become a musician one day. I think these people are really talented. When you can play music and share your mood with people. Melody can tell us if the musician was happy or sad while he was writing it.
History remembers many outstanding and famous musicians. We still remember Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and so on. But I think there were much more genius who could write beautiful music but people never paid attention to them.

I like listening to music. However, I only listen to it in certain situations. For example, I always switch on my player and listen to music when I have to travel somewhere far. A lot of people turn on their record players when they do some routine work. As for me, I love listening to music when I tidy up my house. I like English and Russian songs. My favourite musical style is pop. I like it because these songs are very simple and you can listen to this kind of music in any situation. It suits every mood. There are a lot of songs which I know by heart and enjoy singing them along with the singer.
I don’t like heavy music. It makes me feel depressed. However, I like listening to the legends of classical rock, such as Scorpions. Their songs cannot be compared to modern ones.
Sometimes I just turn on tranquil melodies. It can be sound of waves or other sounds of nature. This type of music helps me to relax after a long day. Usually this music playson low volume somewhere in the background. I can switch it on when I study as it helps to be in the right mood.
There is no doubt that music plays a significant role in our life. It helps to relax. It helps to release the energy. It adds some fun to parties. My name is Kirill. I’m 15 years old. Music is an essential part of my life. I simply can’t imagine how people live without music. Even though I like all types of music, be it classical or pop, my favourite style is alternative rock.
The bands that I listen to include Sheppard, El Pescao, Gotan Project, Gente de Zona and some others. One of my favourite bands of all times is Sheppard. I have their several albums on my MP3 player, so I often listen to them on different occasions. I listen to their songs at home, on a way to school, when I’m sad, when I’m bored, or simply when I need to relax. No wonder that all their songs are brilliant and popular. The lead vocalists of the band are George and Amy Sheppard. They are a multi-talented persons. Apart from singing, Amy writes songs and plays the piano.
There is one song in her repertoire, which I like more than any other song in the world. It’s called “Geronimo”. Friends helped her to write this song. It became the debut single from the album “Geronimo” (2015). A mixture of genres can be heard in it. First of all, it’s alternative genres. There are also the elements of rap rock and gothic metal. In my opinion, the song is rather meaningful and catchy. At first, I simply liked the melody, but after translating the lyrics, I understood that it has deep implication. The lead singer later confessed that “Geronimo” was inspired by her long-time friend. Regardless the critical response, this song soon became popular and won an APRA Awards.

My favorite song is “In The End”. There are six men in this group: Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda, Rob Burdon, David Farell, Bred Delson and Joe Hahn. The most prominent person of the group is Chester Bennington. He is very talented.
Also I like him because he overcame his drug addiction and made his musical career. Nowadays he is taken the 27th place in the hit parade list of “100 of all times top heavy metal vocalists”. He writes poems and composes music.

Music plays an important role in my life. I simply can’t live without music. There are so many kinds of music nowadays, including rap, hip-hop, rock-n-roll, dance, classical, opera, alternative, drum & bass, techno, rock, metal, jazz, reggae, blues, etc.
I like nearly all these types. When I’m sad I listen to alternative music or rock. When I’m in good mood I listen to either hip-hop or dance music. Sometimes my teacher takes us to classical concerts or operas, which I also enjoy. When there is a school disco I like dancing at rap and techno music. Once or twice I went to a jazz concert, which I thought was marvelous.
Speaking of British music, I enjoy one of the oldest and non-existent now bands – “The Beatles”. I think their music will never die as it’s legendary. Reggae is another style I follow and my all-time favourite singer is Bob Marley.
To sum up, I’d like to say that music can influence people. It can inspire and enrich them. It can remind of some places and times. Music is not only another art form but a powerful force, which helps us to live.
