My winter vacation passed wonderfully. This year heavy snow covered the ground, so there was no time to get bored. Together with friends we drove in a sleigh, made snowmen, played snowballs and just had fun. In the evening I watched TV, talked on the phone with friends and occasionally played on the computer.
The second week my family took me to a winter resort. I don’t ski very well, so it was hard in the beginning to learn how to ski down mountain slopes. But the next day, I learned to keep balance and fell to the ground only a few times. At a ski resort we spent 4 days. During this period I managed to make friends and girlfriends, with whom now I keep in touch and correspond through the internet. We hope to see one another again at the same place next year.
By the end of winter break my spirits fell. Suddenly it came in on me that I had not done some homework. But still there were a couple of days left, and I had time to do the tasks before the beginning of classes. How quickly vacations end! And how long a school year lasts!

Every year schoolchildren have their winter holidays. They usually last for 2 weeks: from the New Year’s Day till the 12 th of January. I am sure that all of us look forward to this time because it’s a great chance not to get up early and to do what we want. As for me I always sleep till 9 a.m. during my winter holidays. Then I turn on my TV and lie in my bed for another hour.
Winter holidays are even more exciting because we celebrate New Year and Christmas. Our mood is joyful. The whole atmosphere is full of magic. People exchange presents, decorate their homes, cook delicious food, visit each other and have parties.
If the weather is cold I prefer to stay at home or visit my friends. They can also come to my place. We play computer games, surf the Internet or watch TV. The programmes on TV are really interesting during our holidays, so we watch plenty of cool films. In warm weather we go to the cinema or a café, play ice-hockey or go skiing to the park. Hockey and skiing are my hobbies. We can even play snowballs and make funny snowmen.
In the evening my mother often asks me to help her about the house. My duty is washing up, watering plants and taking the rubbish out. As I don’t have to get up early during my holidays my parents allow me to watch TV and read books till midnight.
I enjoy my winter holidays. It’s a nice time to relax and take a short rest from my studies. It’s a pity that winter holidays always pass so quickly.

Holidays are the wonderful time when children are free from lessons and homework. Every day they can play, walk and meet their friends.
Many children love summer holidays. As for me, I like winter holidays. There are many reasons, actually. Winter holidays in Russia usually start on the 31-st of December and end approximately on the 12-th of January. They are not so long as summer holidays, for example, but they are full of interesting and wonderful events such as New Year and Christmas.
Winter is the time when all around you is full of magic. People seem to be kinder and happier. My family and I often visit our friends and relatives during the winter holidays. I think many people like doing that.
However, what I like about these holidays most of all is not only meetings with friends but also winter sports. My favourite kind of sport is skiing. It is so interesting to ski in the woods with your friends or family. Of course, there are many other kinds of sport: tobogganing, figure-skating, snowboarding…
Sometimes weather may be not so pleasant in winter then one cannot ski, for example. In this case I spend my winter holidays reading books with a cup of hot tea or watching my favourite films.
Winter holidays are the wonderful time when you can do different interesting things. This time is full of magic, happiness and fun.

All schoolchildren look forward to having long holidays and I’m no exception. My favourite holidays are in summer and winter. Perhaps, winter holidays are even better, because it’s also the time for Christmas and New Year celebrations. Everyone is in cheerful mood, houses and stores in the streets are richly decorated and you get to receive lots of presents.
My winter holidays have started almost a week before the New Year. I didn’t have to attend school and I could sleep long hours. On the New Year Eve my parents decided we should visit our relatives in Voronezh, so we went there. It took approximately five hours by train.
My aunt and uncle were happy to see us. They were getting ready for New Year dinner and my mum decided to help them. Meanwhile, me and my dad went shopping for presents and some decorations. Aunt Alice’s house has already been nicely decorated and had two Christmas tree. One was inside the house and one outside. Nevertheless, my dad decided to buy some more colourful toys, postcards and tinsel. When we returned, dinner was ready and everybody was waiting for us. It was a wonderful day. I got to play with my cousins and their friends.
We spent three more days in Voronezh. After such a joyful trip it seemed to be boring at home. However, I wanted to spend my holidays usefully. Luckily, this winter was snowy and I could go skiing with some friends. Our teacher of literature has set special homework before the holidays, so I had to find some time to read books. Soon it was time to get back to school.

My winter holidays (in English)
I spent my previous winter holidays in Saint-Petersburg. This year I did not go anywhere. Our winter holidays began on the 25th of December. On that day I went to a cafe with friends.
Before holidays we prepared various contests and games in class. We had a lot of fun. Then we had a party. We were playing and dancing.
New Year and Christmas are my favourite holidays.
On the 7th of January our family celebrates Christmas. I like this holiday very much too.
This period of the winter holidays is not so rich in different shows and performances as usual. This year we chose to watch films and play board games at home. I think that holiday is the best possibility to spend time with your family.
But the time during the holidays flies so quickly. Of course, I read some books and watched some films on holidays.
This year the weather was really New Year’s one. It was rather snowy and one day we set off to the park to ski. We had a nice day there.
I liked my winter holidays very much.

After the feast a week comes when we can tell fortunes. Every year my friends and I look in the mirror for our intended at night but we understand that it’s impossible to see our fate in a mirror. But anyway we believe that enchantment will happen.
But in other countries Christmas is celebrated in a different way. For example in the USA Christmas day is celebrated on December 25. On this day they decorate a Christmas tree and give presents to each other. All children wait for Santa Claus who will come in sleigh and give presents.
I like this feast very much because it inspires people with belief in the reality of miracles. Birth of Jesus Christ is the most important miracle for believers. This feast goes back to the earliest of times and it will never be forgotten.

Children usually write letters to Santa Claus and tell him what kind of gifts they would like to get. A lot of malls hire people to wear a Santa costume and listen to children’s requests. Some kids hang up stockings for Santa to fill them with candies, fruit and other small gifts.
Adults like to celebrate this holiday as well. Many companies throw corporate parties and give presents to their employees.
My family attends church services on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning. We listen to readings from Bible. In the evening we sit down to festive table, light the candles and enjoy the delicious supper. My favourite dishes are a fruit salad and a roast goose.
I like this feast very much because it inspires people with belief in the realness of miracles. I suppose we will celebrate this feast for centuries in future.

Christmas In My Family
New Year’s celebration is a great chance for a family to arrange different activities together, to go outside the city or simply relax at home. That’s the way New Year can be celebrated as well as Christmas.
Christmas is a special holiday for my family because it closely linked to religious traditions. That’s why we always go to church on Christmas day.
On Christmas Eve we invite all our relatives to have Christmas dinner with us. When we are waiting for our guests to arrive, my sister and I decorate the apartment by hanging bright wreaths on the doors and paper-made angels on the windows.
At the same time my mother is cooking dinner in the kitchen. My father is setting the table. He puts beautiful holiday candles on top of it and we light them up when it gets dark outside.
Approximately at 6pm our guests start arriving. They all bring small gifts. Besides, my grandmother always make a holidays cake shaped like a star or a Christmas tree.
We also prepare gifts for our relatives. Often we make cards out of colorful paper and decorate it with beadwork, lace and glitter. Sometimes we cut gingerbread men out of batter.
During Christmas dinner we usually talk and watch TV. Then my sisters and brothers usually go to play in the nursery and wait for the dessert.
An hour later we get together at the table again and my mother brings tea, pies, sweets and fruits. That is our favorite part of the evening and it’s kind of sad when it is over.
Soon after that our guests start leaving and we go to bed. We try to fall asleep as soon as possible that night because we know that just like on New Year’s Eve we will find a small Christmas gift under the tree in the morning.

On my Christmas Holidays I didn’t have any day I didn’t make anything.
On 25th December I went to my grandpa and my grandma’s house to have the Christmas lunch. In the afternoon I went to see “Pastorets”, and in the evening I stayed in my home with my family and we watched the TV.
On 26th December I went to my other grandma’s house for having another Christmas lunch. And in the afetrnoon I went to see “Pastorets again.
In 31st December I went to campelles with my cousin and my aunt, and two other families and we slept two nights in a hotel. In the night we ate the grapes at 00:00, we laughed a lot and we had fun.
In the morning of 5th Jenuary I went to visit the “pageboys” of the kings and in the evening I went with my little cousin to give the letter to the kings of “Orient”.
And on 6th I opened the presents in my house and at my grandmpa’s house and we had lunch, and for dessert we ate the ring-shaped cake of the kings.
I had a very nice Christmas holidays… But there were very short!!!

Im my Christmas hollidays I stayed at home, but one day I went to Barcelona becuse my grandmother was ill.
The days: 25, 26, 27, 28 and 1 there were “Pastorets” performance. It is very funny but very stressing too!These year my frien Paula mane to do it. But she didn’t liked it very much.
For new year day I went to “Fell good” with my friend Germina, but wee came in I stayes all the time with other people. It were very funny!=)

The holidays started on the 19th December,when we finished the classes at 3 o’clock.That Friday was very funny because all the college did a Christmas party with performances, dances and we sang some songs: War is over and a mixture of Christmas commercial advertisements.
The Christmas day was nice. I received some presents and my family and I had a delicious lunch.Although I was ill, I acted in “Pastorets” with 40º C of fever and it was very well!
We celebrated the Nem Year in a hotel, in Campelles, with my cousin and my mum. Next day we went to the mountain to touch the snow.
Another special day was the “Three Kings’ day”, but I liked more if the Kings had left me deliver their presents by helicopter.
I enjoyed this holidays very much but they have been very short.

In these days, I had more time to read and ride bike. I also could go out more with my friends.
On the 25th of December I had lunch with my father’s family; we celebrated Christmas and “Sant Esteve” eating delicious nougats!
New Year’s Eve was unforgettable with the grape and the 12 strokes!! Besides with the friends and the family, of course.
The night of kings it was quite intriguing because I didn’t know what they would bring me.
That night I could not sleep!! The following day I alredy expected the morning to be able to go down to the dinig room to search the gifts impatient.
It was the best day of the holidays for me! But not everything lasts forever because on Thursday I had to come back to the high institute again.

I celebrated my holidays in my house and I celebrated the father Christmas. I decorated the tree. The 25th and 26th of December I went to Paladium theatre to see the “Pastorets” performance. And on the 5th of December there was the Kings “Cavalgada” in the streets and on the 6th of December the presents were in my house because the Kings left them.

This Chrismas, when it snowed, I went to the mountain and it was very funny!!! I enjoyed a lot with my family, and with all my friends. During this days my mother prepared a lot of food; meat, fish, shripms etc. Every two days my parents brought me to the free buffet, in the restaurant. I did not travel to any place, for the simple reason that my mother does not like to travel in winter, because she thinks that there are a lot of traffic accidents.

That day my mum prepared lunch, and finally my family came to my house, and I opened the presents for my brothers and I. Christmas Holiday
My favorite holiday is Christmas. It is one of the most important holiday in Christianity. Our family prepares for this special day beforehand. We put up Christmas tree and I decorate it with toys, tinsel and colored lights. My mum cooks tasty food and makes cakes.

Christmas holidays are the most awaiting time in any child’s life. We all wait for the New year’s miracles and, of course, presents under the fur tree. This time, my Christmas holidays were beautiful.
My parents prepared an amazing surprise for me. They bought a trip to Egypt. It was a great time there. I really loved being there. I swam a lot. Each time I was observing a mysterious underwater world of coral and its habitats.
Moreover, I had found a marvelous present under the Christmas tree before we went for a trip. I won’t tell you because it is a secret.
I love Christmas and its surprizes. It is definitely a family holiday because real joy can be gained only when your close ones are gathered together!
