    My dream school is first of all a school where life begins with the teacher who is full of passion and liveliness. The teacher not only grabs the students’ attention but keeps them on the edge of their seats wanting to know more. His or her enthusiasm ignites that spark of excitement that opens receiving minds to wider fields of knowledge. Such a teacher asks more questions from the students, explores with the students and is a friend to them. 

My dream school is a school where teaching methods vary from the use of contemporary technologies like robotics to out-of-class experiences.  Those experiences are important because they do not confine students to the four walls of a classroom. 

There would also be integrated learning of subjects both in the Arts and Sciences so that the education received would not be about confining but expanding. Given choices, students get a sense of freedom, can express opinions and will be more sociable. All these make them better persons in society, possessing a wide range of skills. 

My dream school would be complete with amazing facilities like classroom labs, pools, and gyms. A library and counselling centre would be at hand to enable students to be more familiar with their subjects and themselves. Studying in a hands-on environment allows students to use their five senses to gain knowledge. It moulds them to be excited about their abilities and excel with them. Also at hand would be a canteen stocked with healthy food. A balanced diet is vital for students who spend many hours in school. Clean, non-processed, nutritious food is a key feeding requirement for students. 

Foreign exchange programs in my dream school would create understanding and respect. They would satisfy curiosities and instil intercultural awareness. They would be open to all students, rich and poor. Including students from all parts of the world would make this education truly global. 

Sports would be given equal emphasis with academics. After all, education is not only for the mind but for the whole self – mentally and physically. Sporting activities instil a healthy lifestyle by encouraging students to be physically fit, emotionally strong, and have good self-esteem. They build team spirit, and at the same time encourage individuality. Through sports, people from different backgrounds meet and learn to respect each other. 

Academic subjects must be relevant. The syllabus would include significant impact fields like environmental studies, political views, and economic struggles. It would grab the attention of students and lead them to action. 

Improving schools would require international collaboration. Such cooperation would encourage dialogue and lead to common standards. Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the great engine of development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine, that the child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation”.  

Education can bring a change in someone’s future as Mr. Mandela observed. The struggle to keep fulfilling that observation must be made by us. Students need to be inspired, amazed and be aware of endless opportunities. 

While school is the best thing that ever happened to mankind, there is still yet more to do.

MY DREAM SCHOOL. Nina MK, Ph.D. We have been engaged in “My Dream School” international project with International Education and Resource Network since the 1990’s., with all levels and ages. The European Schoolnet also offers similar topics. They are great for class discussions, essay writing, extra-curricular activities, and sites creation. Needless to say, any such project stimulates children’s imagination, and gives us teachers valuable insights into their wishes. • Primary school. The kids’ vocabulary is not too big, but their enthusiasm is enormous, and their energy is limitless. My pupils, ages 8-9, always began with drawings which they accompanied with short captions. Their whole word-stock can be activated this way. They would envision bigger rooms, spacious hallways “to run along in during the breaks”, play areas, roomy cafeteria with very good food, huge computer classes, and regular email correspondence with their peers from other countries. Among their recommendations is this rather sad one: teach teachers not to yell at children. • Middle school. By the time they became teenagers, all my pupils would have taken part in a few international projects. Their computer skills would be quite solid, and their vocabulary sufficient for writing short essays and exchanging messages with their partners. We moved from large drawings with short captions to occasional drawings, class-created web pages, and longer essays. At this stage, using English as a means of communication gradually becomes the key element of any project. • High school. At age 16-17, pupils are interested in real face to face meetings and contacts. They still talk about larger and lighter classrooms, bigger, more modern ICT classes, and the painful topic of enormous home tasks becomes a constant. They wish to have specially assigned rooms for after-school studies and activities, better equipped gyms, and cafeteria with breakfast, lunch and dinner served all day long. They universally express the desire for teachers’ salaries to be raised “to sportsmen’s level”. • The teacher. Listening to children of all ages and reading their essays, I learned to formulate my own ideas. When we come to work at any school, we take it as is, and do what we can. My own nebulous thoughts stem from my experience with the Manhattan School for Children in New York, USA, which my children had attended in the 1990’s. It was organized largely thanks to the efforts of several neighbourhood parents who wanted to open up a safe school for their young children, and to the tireless work of wonderful teachers. Together we took up an empty wing of a large school, wrote fund-raising letters to every organization we could think of, held fairs and sales to raise money, involved parents and children into our work, and thus this amazing school started. • Staff. There is a saying in my country: Personnel determines everything. Meaning, it is possible to erect a great school building and cram it full of all the facilities and equipment imaginable. However, if the teachers are not up to par, if pupils dislike them and parents have no respect for them, no good will come out of it. • Language learning in the future. Ideally, any teacher and any pupil who wish to visit another country to learn more about it, and to improve their foreign language skills, should be able to do so. Several schools in my town have ongoing exchange programs with English-speaking schools in Germany, for instance. Only a few students can afford to attend language courses in the UK. • Good salaries, reasonable amount of paper work, sensible hours, flexible curriculum, affordable travel, regular refresher courses. Children of all ages who are willing and able to learn. Teachers who are willing and able to teach. Parents who work with, not against, educators. And world peace. Ah, the stuff that dreams are made of…My dream school is one which strives to develop literate and numerate students who harness the power of digital technology to become ‘self-regulated learners’. Students would do this through learning opportunities which provide them with greater choice of subject matter, learning methods and pace of study. Furthermore, I dream of a school where students are granted the autonomy to challenge themselves and take risks to collaborate, co-create and think critically through learning experiences which are relevant to the real world.

As such, my Dream School acknowledges every student with the dignity and respect they deserve through the provision of student voice and student agency. The school supports of parents as the primary educators, enables children to become young adults who can recognise, have access to, and take up opportunities that will grow them as compassionate people with integrity and moral strength to make right and just decisions.

School of my dream

I am 13 years old and my name is Olga and I go to school. The first reason I go to school is my friends. I also like subjects such as physical education, literature and English. But there are days when I go to classes without desire and pleasure. Probably every child in fantasies has a school of his dreams. Many children do not like to go to school for various reasons. Someone does not like to study, and someone does not want to get up early in the morning to go to class. Some are bored and uninteresting, while others simply do not like teachers, because they are strict, put bad grades and ask a lot of homework.

I also have my dream school. Firstly, it should be beautiful and bright. I want the school to be modern and well equipped. It should have air conditioning, comfortable furniture, blinds on the windows, and many colors. I really love the big exotic flowers, palm trees, ferns, bonsai. Each student should have a computer on the table and soft chairs. My dream school should have a large gym, a sports ground, a swimming pool and a huge concert hall with many different musical instruments.

And in my miracle school, I want a bright and spacious dining room, where you can always take any treat for free. Teachers should be kind and not ask a lot of homework. I wish that the lessons lasted 30 minutes and there were big changes. But during breaks, usually the children shout and run around, so I want small sofas in the corridors and you can sit quietly. At breaks you always want silence. I wanted pleasant music to sound, or there were TVs in the corridors and pupils could watch interesting and entertaining programs.

Но бывают дни, когда я иду на занятия без желания и удовольствия. Наверное у каждого ребёнка в фантазиях есть школа его мечты. Многие дети не любят ходить в школу по разным причинам. Кому-то не нравится учиться, а кто то не хочет вставать рано по утрам, чтобы идти на занятия. В ней должны быть кондиционеры, удобная мягкая мебель, жалюзи на окнах, и много цветов. Я очень люблю большие экзотическтие цветы, пальмы, папоротники, карликовые деревья. У каждого ученика должен быть компьютер на столе и мягкие стулья. В моей школе мечты должен быть большой спортзал, спортивная площадка, плавательный бассейн и огромный концертный зал со множеством разных музыкальных инструментов.

А ещё в моей чудо школе я хочу светлую и просторную столовую, где всегда бесплатно можно взять любое лакомство. Учителя должны быть добрые и не задавать много домашнего задания. Хотелось бы, чтобы уроки длились 30 минут и были большие перемены. Но на переменах обычно дети шумят кричат и бегают, поэтому мне хочется, чтобы в коридорах стояли небольшие диваны и можно было спокойно посидеть. На переменах всегда хочется тишины. Хотелось, чтобы звучала приятная музыка, или в коридорах стояли телевизоры и ученики могли смотреть интересные и развлекательные программы.

At the moment I am а student of a comprehensive school #45. I like my school, but I think it could be better, so I would like to tell you about my ideal school.

My ideal school would be situated in a quiet place near a big park, so that students could walk there after classes to relax. There would be a big buffet, where students could have a cup of tea or coffee with a sandwich during the breaks. My ideal school would also have lockers for books and personal things like in American schools.

Nowadays we have to study a lot of subjects at school. But I think that the most important subjects are those, which will help us to pass the Unified State Exam and to enter the university. In my ideal school the majority of sciences would be given at fact-finding level and students of a high school would be allowed to choose subjects, which they would like to learn on a higher level, according to their aims and preferences. But of course, Russian will be a compulsory subject for everyone at my school, because we must admit that it is necessary for the literate writing. Information technology is another important subject, because computers simplify our lives and each of students will need to use it in future.

As well as the subjects of the curriculum, there would be many after-school clubs, such as chess, drama, music, arts and sports.

To sum up, I think my school would be a place I would like to go to!

My Ideal School!

First of all I`d like to tell you about my school. I have been learning in the same school for almost nine years. I like some things, and I don`t like other things. My school-is a school with in-depth study of certain subjects. I think it is certainly a plus. I know negative and positive things, but I will not speak about it. To my mind, my school is not far away from my dream school. Now I`m going to describe my Ideal School.

My Ideal School would be outside the city near a forest or a river, because the noise of traffic could disturb students at the lessons. When you enter the school yard you can see poplar trees and beautiful flowers. Children will be able to relax during the break, breath of fresh air. To the right of the school building will be a big playground. The school will be has a large room for lessons in various sections, such as dance, aerobics, gymnastics and much more. There will also be a swimming pool and various trails for cyclists and athletes.

When you enter the school you come in to a large hall and a cloak-room, there we left our coats, rain-coats and jackets.

Classes would be limited to ten students to pay more attention to each student from teachers. What about our homework we usually have a lot to do and it take me several hours. I sometimes have to sit up to write a composition, to prepare a report, to translate an article from English to Russian or to learn a poem by heart. In my Ideal School homework won`t be given. It would to be checked on the lessons immediately, that the children had free time.

As for subjects, I think that we need to study only those one that we need in the future of the profession. When you leave school you understand that the time to choose your future profession has come. It`s not an easy task to make the right choice of a job. People choose profession according to their own interests and abilities. My favorite subjects are English, computer science, history, Russian. I would like to give them more attention. At my school exams will be in the form of control works every month in the individuality of each student.

Breaks will be the same as in my school-for 10-20 minutes. During the breaks the student will hear the music. Scientists found that when you listen to good music it is a positive impact on learning. As for me, I love music. I listen to all that love, regardless of the direction.

Education will last for five days a week for five lessons. We need to introduce compulsory free two meals. Food will be varied, to choose from.

The most important thing in the school is society. The teachers will all be good; the relationship of students and teachers will be friendly.

How often do you wake up in the morning with the feeling that you don`t want to go to school? Six times a week! Nevertheless we do realize that we are the main inhabitants of the world which is called School World. Only we can change that fact. I believe that my children will learn it in such an Ideal School!

Дети смогут отдохнуть во время перерыва, подышать свежим воздухом. Справа от здания школы будет большая детская площадка. В школе будут большая комната для занятий в различных секциях, таких как танцы, аэробика, гимнастика и многое другое. Будет также бассейн и различные трассы для велосипедистов и спортсменов.

Когда вы зайдете в школу, Вы увидите большой зал и раздевалку, где можете оставить пальто, плащи и куртки.

Классы будут ограничены до десяти учеников, чтобы уделять больше внимания каждому со стороны учителей. Что касается нашей домашней работы, ее обычно у нас много, и чтобы ее сделать нужно порядка несколько часов. Я иногда приходится писать упражнение, придумывать сочинение, готовить доклад, переводить статьи с английского на русский или учить наизусть поэму. В моей идеальная школ домашняя работа задаваться не будет. Она будет проверяться на уроки сразу, чтобы у детей было больше свободноговремени.

Что касается школьных предметов, я думаю, что нам необходимо изучать только те, которые нам необходимы в будущей профессии. Когда вы покидаете школу, Вы понимаете, что пришло время выбрать вашу будущую профессию. Это нелегкая задача сделать правильный выбор работы. Люди выбирают профессию в соответствии со своими интересами и способностями. Мои любимые предметы: английский, информатика, история, русский язык. Я хотела бы уделять им больше внимания. В моей идеальной школе экзамены будут в виде контрольных работ каждый месяц в индивидуальности для каждого ученика.

Учебные дни будут пять раз в неделю по пять уроков. Нам надо ввести обязательное бесплатное двухразовое питание. Питание будет изменяться, чтобы был выбор продуктов.

Как часто вы просыпаетесь утром с ощущением, что вы не хотите идти в школу? Шесть раз в неделю! Тем не менее, мы понимаем, что мы являемся неотъемлемой частичкой мира, который называется Школа. Только мы можем изменить это. Я верю, что мои дети будут учиться в такой идеальной школе!

My ideal school is a modern three-storey building of a typical design. I would like it to be more modern and well-equipped than ours. Behind the school there should be a big garden with beautiful flower-beds, bushes and fruit trees. When you enter the building you can see a large hall with lots of plants and benches inside. On the right there is a large and state-of-the-art canteen with modern furniture.

The cloak room should be on the ground floor. The classrooms, the laboratories, the doctor’s office, the library, the teachers’ room are situated on the upper floors. On the walls of the corridors you can see beautiful landscapes, pictures of famous scientists, writers and other outstanding people of our country. There are light curtains on the windows and many pots with flowers on window sills. The halls are full of sunlight. There are many different special classrooms for the classes of Physics, Chemistry, English, Geography and Biology. They have high quality projectors, schemes and tables on the walls.

The classrooms have modern laboratories which are well-equipped for different experiments and tests, which are carried out by our pupils during the lessons. On the second floor there is our computer room, assembly hall and a swimming pool. I think that all our pupils and teachers will enjoy this new and modern school. It would be the place you would like to come back again and again.

Учебные кабинеты имеют современные лаборатории, хорошо оборудованные для различных экспериментов и тестов, которые проводятся нашими учениками во время уроков. На втором этаже находится наш компьютерный зал, актовый зал и бассейн. Я думаю, что все наши ученики и учителя будут наслаждаться этой новой и современной школе. A school is a place where we gain our basic knowledge.

I study in school №1284, it’s in Moscow. It’s not very far from my house. I go there on my foot. It’s a big three-storied building. Our library has books almost on all subjects. There is also a grand swimming pool where every facility is provided to the students to learn swimming.

I am going to tell you about my school. It was built twelve years ago and has three floors. The classrooms are spacious and bright.

My school is a very big one and it is situated in the center of a big town. There are over a thousand students ranging from the ages of 6 to 17, and it is a mixed school.

Our lessons start at 9 o’clock but we usually meet with classmates beforehand in order to chat. Our lessons last for 45 minutes and we study a variety of subjects. At my school we start learning English at the age of 6 and then at 10 we can choose any other language or deeper science studying.

We have mid-morning break from 11 o’clock to 20 past eleven, then we have lunch break at half past 12. At lunch time we usually sit in a big group in the school hall or if the weather is nice outside in the playground and eat our lunch together. Our school even has a tuck-shop where we can buy sweets and drinks if we want to. Sometimes during our lunch break we play sports. In summer we play tennis and rounder. After lunch we have another two lessons.

Our classes usually have about thirty children in them until we get to the sixth form when we start learning the advanced level of the subjects. Then the classes are usually much smaller — about fifteen students. My school is quite traditional. А lot of the students who study there enter the University afterwards.

Extracurricular activities include the opportunity to play a musical instrument. We also have sporting matches against other school’s teams. Our school raises funds for the people in need, so the students learn to help people. There is no doubt that school plays an important role in our life. It’s the first place where we learn to feel at home. Sometime I think we spend there even more time than at home. Every weekday from early morning till evening we are there. The lessons usually last till 2 or 3 pm, but every child has something additional to do at school.

As for me, starting from the last year I stay for sewing lessons. There is a special classroom in our school where we can learn sewing techniques. In fact, it’s a well-equipped classroom. Our teacher allows us to stay there and practice as long as we want to. After all, I get back home around 6 pm, which is almost time for dinner. Thanks to these additional classes I understood what I want to become in the future. It’s highly likely that I will continue education in the field of fashion and design. The way I found most suitable occupation for me, others find what they want to do in the future.

The key role in career choice and development belongs to schools. That’s why I believe that school years are important and valuable. Other than that, school is the place where first love is met. We set some relations then break up and try again. Some teens meet their first and only love for life at schools. For example, my parents know each other from high school. They were classmates and best friends. Many couples are formed at school. I’d be happy to find my second half there as well, but that’s yet to come, I suppose.

Также как я нашла наиболее подходящее для себя занятие, другие тоже находят, чем хотят заниматься в будущем.
