In the modern world there are great many problems which not only a man but the whole humanity face. One of these problems is trees cutting. Population enlargement and rapid technological development ruin the nature. Thousand years ago the biggest part of the ground was covered by forests. People used wood in different goals during many years: at first for heating and building of habitations, then for construction of massive buildings and ships, for getting paper and many other things. In general, our planet suffers from deforestation, trees cutting turn into a real ecological problem. Notwithstanding that trees can be planted again, cutting speed is too high, and the trees have no time to grow up. A tree needs many years to become big. Scientists ring the alarm: territories remaining without trees became deserts because the top soil is washed by rains, numerous animal species and entire ecosystems perish. Trees are the lungs of our planet, that’s why it is necessary to treat them carefully. It’s very important to decrease damage from trees cutting around the entire planet, ecologists suggest series of actions for this: to increase territories for planting new trees, to prevent forest fires, to fight with poachers and crooked businessmen, to enlarge and to create new reservations. But what a usual person can do? At first, to plant new trees and to use paper reasonably. The nature beauty is our treasure and our duty is to keep it for future generation. В общем, сейчас наша планета страдает от обезлесения, вырубка деревьев превратилась в настоящую экологическую проблему. Несмотря на то что деревья можно посадить заново, скорость вырубки слишком высока, и деревья просто не успевают вырасти снова. Необходимо много лет, чтобы дерево стало большим. Ученые бьют тревогу: территории, оставшиеся без деревьев, становятся пустынями, так как верхний слой земли вымывается осадками, погибают многочисленные виды животных, целые экосистемы. Деревья – легкие нашей планеты, поэтому необходимо к ним относиться бережно. Очень важно уменьшить ущерб от вырубки деревьев по всей планете, для этого экологи предлагают ряд мер: увеличить территории для высадки новых лесов, предотвращать лесные пожары, бороться с браконьерами и недобросовестными предпринимателями, расширять и создавать новые заповедники. Но что может сделать обычный человек? Во-первых, высаживать новые деревья и осмысленно использовать бумагу. Красота природы – наше богатство, и наш долг – сберечь ее для будущих поколей.

Одна из проблем мира — это вырубка лесов. Одни люди утверждают, что вырубать целые леса это неправильно и плохо, другие же люди относятся к этому спокойно, они считают, что вырубка лесов — это хороший заработок. Какое же из утверждений верно?
Начну с утверждения «За вырубку лесов». Дерево — это строительный материал, из него делают двери, столы, стулья, шкафы, строят дома, так как дерево теплый материал, в отличии от железа.Также дерево — это то из чего делают бумагу, очень необходимую для людей.
Теперь перейду к утверждению «Против вырубки лесов». Во-первых, в ходе вырубки деревьев разрушаются места обитания диких животных, из-за чего пропадают многие виды животных.Во-вторых, деревья производят кислород, а в следствии вырубки деревьев начнет загрязняться окружающая среда.
Таким образом могу сделать вывод, что вырубка лесов по-моему мнение это плохо и я «против».Потому что дома и другие предметы можно делать из современных материалов. Сейчас появились различные материалы заменяющие дерево. А вместо бумаги использовать технику.

Environmental problems which are caused by deforestation

Deforestation is a contributor to global warming, and is often cited as one of the major causes of the enhanced greenhouse effect. Tropical deforestation is responsible for approximately 20% of world greenhouse gas emissions. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change deforestation, mainly in tropical areas, could account for up to one-third of total anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions.

The water cycle is also affected by deforestation. Trees extract groundwater through their roots and release it into the atmosphere. When part of a forest is removed, the trees no longer transpire this water, resulting in a much drier climate. Deforestation reduces the content of water in the soil and groundwater as well as atmospheric moisture. The dry soil leads to lower water intake for the trees to extract. Deforestation reduces soil cohesion, so that erosion, flooding and landslides ensue.

• Damage to forests and other aspects of nature could halve living standards for the world’s poor and reduce global GDP by about 7% by 2050, a report concluded at the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) meeting in Bonn. Historically, utilization of forest products, including timber and fuel wood, has played a key role in human societies, comparable to the roles of water and cultivable land. Today, developed countries continue to utilize timber for building houses, and wood pulp for paper. In developing countries almost three billion people rely on wood for heating and cooking.
• The forest products industry is a large part of the economy in both developed and developing countries. Short-term economic gains made by conversion of forest to agriculture, or over-exploitation of wood products, typically leads to loss of long-term income and long-term biological productivity.

Projects and foundations

Founded in 1972, the centennial of the first Arbor Day observance in the 19th century, the Foundation has grown to become the largest nonprofit membership organization dedicated to planting trees, with over one million members, supporters, and valued partners. They work on projects focused on planting trees around campuses, low-income communities, and communities that have been affected by natural disasters among other places.

The Billion Tree Campaign was launched in 2006 by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as a response to the challenges of global warming, as well as to a wider array of sustainability challenges, from water supply to biodiversity loss. Its initial target was the planting of one billion trees in 2007. Only one year later in 2008, the campaign’s objective was raised to 7 billion trees — a target to be met by the climate change conference that was held in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009. Three months before the conference, the 7 billion planted trees mark had been surpassed.

Considered the largest reserve of biological diversity in the world, the Amazon Basin is also the largest Brazilian biome, taking up almost half the nation’s territory. The Amazon Basin corresponds to two fifths of South America’s territory. Its area of approximately seven million square kilometers covers the largest hydrographic network on the planet, through which runs about one fifth of the fresh water on the world’s surface. Deforestation in the Amazon rainforest is a major cause to climate change due to the decreasing number of trees available to capture increasing carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.

DEFORESTATION

Some people’s activities do a lot of harm to the forests. People cut down trees to build houses, roads, factories and plants. Deforestation is a very serious environmental problem.

The world’s great rainforests are all near the equator, in Africa, South America and South-East Asia. These rainforests are homes to millions of kinds of exotic animals, birds, reptiles, insects, strange plants and beautiful flowers. Three quarters of the world’s species live in the rainforests. If we destroy their habitat many of them will not survive.

Amazon rainforest is the biggest and most important in South America. Scientists believe that plants from the forest could give us many important new medicines such as cures for cancer and AIDS.

The rainforests also help to reduce pollution levels in the atmosphere and affect the weather around the world. Without rainforests our planet might not survive.

People know it but continue to destroy rainforests every day. Logging companies cut down trees to sell the wood, farmers clear the land to grow food crops, people build towns and roads where the forest used to be. Vast forests are cut and burn in fire. Their disappearance upsets the oxygen balance. As a result, a number of rivers and lakes dry up, some rare species of animals, fish, birds and plants disappear forever.

People should take measures to reduce the amount of deforestation and protect the flora and fauna of the rainforest. Our planet is our home and we need to protect it.

Огромные леса вырубаются и сжигаются. Их исчезновение нарушает кислородный баланс. В результате, реки и озера высыхают, некоторые редкие виды животных, рыб, птиц и растений навсегда исчезают.

Людям нужно принимать меры, чтобы сократить объемы вырубки лесов и защитить животный и растительный мир тропических лесов. Наша планета – наш дом, и мы должны его сохранить.
