We live in the world of globalization and new technologies. Some people think that technologies help to make our life easier, but others don’t think that these technologies do us good, because people get too bound to them and it’s sometimes hard for them to do without them.
From my point of view, people are really dependent on new technologies. I think that modem children don’t even know how to use encyclopedias now because they find everything with one single click. Technologies have really become a pan of our life. Just imagine that there could be more space for bookcases in your room when there was no TV, computer, Play station etc there. If people are left alone somewhere in the forest. I don’t think they will be able to make fire and will know what to do to survive, because they are used to finding instant information on the internet. They don’t need to keep it in mind anymore.
However, some people claim that this dependence is logical and can’t be avoided. They say that we can’t stop technological progress and have nothing left but to welcome it and to use it to the full.
To sup up I would like to say that everything depends on a person. If he or she is smart enough to use technologies and to read books simultaneously, he or she will know how to survive when needed.
Мы живем в мире глобализации и новых технологий. Некоторые люди считают, что технологии помогают делать нашу жизнь проще, но другие не думают, что эти технологии приносят нам пользу, потому что люди слишком сильно к ним привязываются и порой им очень трудно обходиться без них.
C моей точки зрения, люди действительно зависимы oт новых технологий. Я думаю, что современные дети даже не знают, как пользоваться энциклопедиями, потому что они могут найти все, что хотят, всего лишь с помощью одного нажатия клавиши. Технологии действительно стали частью нашей жизни. Только представьте, что в вашей комнате могло бы быть больше места для книжных шкафов, если бы в ней не было телевизора, компьютера, игровой приставки и т.д. Если людей оставить одних где-то в лесу, я не думаю, что они смогут разжечь костер и будут знать, что делать, чтобы выжить, так как они привыкли мгновенно находить информацию в Интернете. Им не нужно больше помнить обо всем этом.
Тем не менее, некоторые люди утверждают, что такая зависимость логична и что ее нельзя избежать. Они говорят, что мы не может ocтановить технологический прогресс и нам ничего другого не остается, как радушно его встретить и воспользоваться им в полном объеме.
B заключение я хотела бы сказать, что все зависит от человека. Если он или она достаточно умны, чтобы пользоваться новыми технологиями и читать книги одновременно, то он или она будут знать, как им выжить, при такой необходимости
Technologies have become a necessary part of people`s life. Many of us cannot do without gadgets, and that is why sometimes you can hear that people pay too much attention to their devices.
Personally, I think it is true. To begin with, it is difficult to imagine a person who can spend at least half an hour without a mobile phone. You often can see a company of teenagers sitting somewhere and staring at the mobile window instead of chatting to each other. Furthermore, sometimes people cannot stop buying something new. They consider expensive computers and gadgets as a sign of their prosperity. If the device is not the best and the newest, they feel discomfort and shame. Finally, computers can be harmful for a person. It is difficult to stop checking news feed or playing interesting computer games even if you know that you spend too much time on them and it can cause health problems.
However, there is an opposite point of view.
Some people are sure that using technology is caused by progress. It is more convenient to use a calculator than your mind for difficult math operations, so it is not a wonder that people prefer to use smart technologies.
There is something in what they say. Still, I think that people can become too lazy and begin to find way to replace even elementary actions by programs. It can be harmful for intellectual abilities.
In conclusion, I want to say that computers improve our life, but we should not forget about limits and use them wisely.
Технологии стали необходимой частью жизни людей. Многие из нас не могут обойтись без гаджетов, и поэтому иногда можно услышать, что люди слишком много внимания уделяют своим устройствам.
Лично я думаю, что это правда. Начнем с того, что сложно представить человека, который может провести хотя бы полчаса без мобильного телефона. Вы часто можете увидеть компанию подростков, которые сидят где-то и смотрят в экран мобильного телефона вместо того, чтобы общаться друг с другом. Кроме того, иногда люди не могут перестать покупать что-то новое. Они считают дорогие компьютеры и гаджеты признаком своего благополучия. Если устройство не самое лучшее и самое новое, они чувствуют дискомфорт и стыд. Наконец, компьютеры могут быть вредны для человека. Трудно перестать проверять новостную ленту или играть в интересные компьютерные игры, даже если вы знаете, что тратите на них слишком много времени, и это может вызвать проблемы со здоровьем.
Однако существует противоположная точка зрения. Некоторые люди уверены, что использование технологий обусловлено прогрессом. Для сложных математических операций удобнее пользоваться калькулятором, чем считать в уме, поэтому неудивительно, что люди предпочитают использовать умные технологии.
Есть что-то в том, что они говорят. Тем не менее, я думаю, что люди могут стать слишком ленивыми и начать находить способ заменить даже элементарные действия программами. Это может быть вредно для интеллектуальных способностей.
В заключение хочу сказать, что компьютеры улучшают нашу жизнь, но мы не должны забывать об ограничениях и использовать их с умом.

Thats why Im writing you this letter I think its the first time Ive written a letter for more than a year!

Очень поздно отправлять мне письмо по электронной почте, в любом случае, поэтому что я остаюсь с моим дядей и тетей в деревне. Я здесь с пятницы, и я собираюсь остаться до конца месяца. Тут примечательно! Так тихо и смирно! Почему бы для тебя и Нилу не приехать на выходные? Единственное, тут нет компьютеров! И я не могу даже использовать собственный мобильный телефон! Уровень сигнала очень низкий. Вот почему я пишу для тебя это письмо, я мыслю, что это первый раз, когда я написала письмо в течение более года!
Как концерт Критичного возраста? Для тебя понравилось? Как жалко, что я пропустила его! Я слушаю радио все утро, но они не игрались Так счастлив пока.

Nowadays there are a lot of debates about technological progress. Some people think that it is good while others are strongly against. Which of these opposing opinions is more reasonable and convenience?
In my opinion, technological progress is a useful thing, because it gives many advantages to humanity. Firstly, the invention of the computer and the Internet has given us more opportunities. Now we can communicate with people without meeting face-to-face, send e-mails, learn different things without going to the library etc. Secondly, our medicine has become better. Many illnesses that were incurable several years ago do not constitute a danger now. Thirdly, we have a big progress in engineering.
Our engineers have made a lot of very useful things that make our life easier.
However, some people may object by saying that technological progress has given us many problems. For example, they can claim that sometimes modern technologies pollute the environment. It leads to different diseases of people and harms the ecology. Moreover, they believe that technologies make a lot of noise. Some people cannot sleep because of it and get depressed.
I do not agree with my opponents. Talking about pollution of the environment I would like to say that people should use the purification technologies. As for noise, it is not really a problem. It is said that in recent years, technology has rapidly expanded. New models of mobile phones have been developed, computers and the Internet are already a standard. Hence people have easy and fast access to different information. They can easily communicate with each others. It is convenient for them and helpful in everyday life. For example, when we need information, we can quickly find them on the internet. Several years ago it was much harder. We would have to leaf through the book and spend a lot of time to find a bit of information. Therefore technology is a great facility.
Internet and mobile phone allows us to communicate quickly with friends and people from another country or even continent. Many people use this instead of meeting. Writing e-mails or sms kills our language., We use increasingly abbreviations and emoticons, which limits our language. In a normal conversation, the words begin to shorten. This is most visible by young people, becouse they use new technology more often then adults. That’s why our language disappiears and becomes poorer. It is likely that future generations may have problems with understanding the individual word.
More and more people are using constantly new technologies. Their live became thus more easy, but I think personally it does not make for right direction. People do not meet as often and cease to think logically. they become slowly lonely and dependent on certain technologies. To sum up they should limit the use of technological tools.
In these days, people in the world are using more technology to communicate to they friends and their family, principally with who live far away then because calls are very expensive and they are abandon bit by bit post and phone. Email is very easy to use and cheap. But sometimes they stop meeting they because of the technology and lose relationships. Today, the relationships are virtual and people know people by internet. Some people are very lacking and know bad people on internet who may don’t want know people just money and are very evil. Internet is very cool and interesting, but can be very dangerous too. Had time internet was a safed place, now no more it. Large banks allow them clients to move them account online. People can see notices, weather and have fun too.

«The more elaborate means of communication, the less we communicate» — this expression is relevant today. In this expression we can trace back several meanings; for example, one of them can be considered as a process of continuous improvement of everyday life, and you can just highlight the human laziness, or even the desire to express their emotional state, which often comes from shyness or modesty caused by lack of alive communication. Unfortunately, modern society is consumed by the wave of mass information, people have begun to communicate much less and not so openly. Today, people cannot often pronounce many words and find an alternative to writing emails, and what is called «hyper» stiffness that causes closure of the people. It is believed that such means of communication as a modern mobile phone these days do not give a normal development of teenagers, it is not good if a child carries around his mobile phone and often starts to play with it. However, today, every parent can without any problem call his child and find out where he is, and how he is with the help of such devices.
Of course, with the advent of new video, radio and telephone technologies, our life has become much easier, for example, you need not a night walk around the city to the nearest payphone to call a doctor, or a late call to the neighbour`s door, asking for someone to dial a number. Of course, it is better, but you should not forget that there are other ways of communication,because earlier, before the most primitive means of radio telephony, people were much closer to each other both in terms of location and in terms of human relation to each other. For example, earlier it was not an acute problem with a late-call to a physician or another service, a person could just come to his neighbours and ask to make a call, but now people have become so spoiled by modern means of communication that they can simply say «Call 03 free» or a phrase like this, and you can simply not open the door at night, assuming that the mobile phone is common today to everyone. Unfortunately, such situations are not rare, and their effects can vary.

Nowadays, many people simply cannot imagine their lives without any means of communication, because 93% of the inhabitants of our planet have mobile telephones, Internet, or even pagers. Of course, a phone has made our world a better and easier place, but Alexander Graham Bell, a Scot living in America, creating in1875 his miracle invention that later was named as telephone, could not suspect that his followers would not only create a totally wireless phone, which weighs no more than one hundred grammes, invented in 1957 and demonstrated by a Russian scientist Leonid Kupriyanovich, but would combine a device invented and created by Bell with various other benefits of everyday life, for example, bring together the work of an entire telegraph station, where dozens of people were employed, great sounds of a good orchestra, and also a photo studio in a small device which was called a mobile phone with SMS, photos, and often a video camera functions. With all its content, its dimensions are not large, it is freely placed in the pocket and has a very little weight. Undoubtedly, Bell’s invention has made our life much easier and more enjoyable, because now there is no need to stand in the endless queues in the telegraph to send just a few phrases, or sit around waiting for your turn, after a little wait, still need to hear the weary voice of the station operator to say that your turn has come. With the invention of mobile phones, people are forgetting what a PBX is, and if today a person wishes to call his relatives to Moscow or even to New York, he simply dials the number on his mobile.
The possibilities of modern communication tools are quite large. Today, virtually every household has a personal computer with a working function of the Internet that allows people to communicate quite simply, no matter what distance separates them; not just talk, but do it in «real time». There are lots of kinds of software tools which allow people to engage in correspondence, to hear each other, and even conduct video-talks, which nowadays are very popular. And modern possibilities of the internet allow a person without leaving a house to order a food delivery at home by visiting a website Internet — shop, to pay all bills, including utilities, and even earn money. However, all these will neverreplace human «live» interaction because with all the wealth created by mankind, a person creates around himself a kind of peace that allows him to create and develop it. It is believed that the Internet, and in general a computer makes people use writing less and less, as today there is no need to write letters on paper; if you want to send a letter — just open the appropriate Web application and simply type the text. Of course, email is much easier and faster than a usual one, but if people stop using fountain pens, they will simply forget the beauty and savagery of hand-written texts.
Indeed, their feelings, experiences can be conveyed through handwriting. But it is impossible, because the normal perception of the world cannot be obtained without a direct communication, because people communicate not only by voices but also by sympathising to each other, by the actions of the hands, facial expressions and even smells. Just going to the man and speaking to him, on an unconscious level, the level of instincts, people can immediately identify who is in front of them, a hostile or simply a pleasant person to communicate, or at first glance, you can determine that a person has difficulties, and he is unconsciously asking for help. The Internet or the mobile phone with a wide variety of functions cannot afford all that, these devices can only simplify the daily routine, and will never replace live communication. After talking «Tet-a-tete» we sometimes do not notice that many problems are solved almost by themselves, it is nice sometimes just to see a man`s smile.

«Чем более развиты средства коммуникации, тем меньше мы общаемся» — данное выражение является актуальным в наши дни. В этом выражении можно проследить несколько смыслов, например одним из них можно рассматривать процесс постоянной модернизации средств повседневного быта, а можно просто подчеркнуть человеческую лень или даже не желание выразить свое эмоциональное состояние, что зачастую происходит от стеснительности или скромности, вызванной недостатком общения в живую. К сожалению, современное общество поглотила волна массовой информатизации, люди стали общаться на много реже и не так открыто. Сегодня, зачастую люди не могут произнести многих слов и находят альтернативу в написании электронных писем, чем и вызвана «гипер» скованность или даже замкнутость людей. Существует мнение, что такие средства коммуникации как современный мобильный телефон, в наши дни не дают нормально развиваться современным подросткам, ведь не хорошо если подросток, ребенок носит повсюду свой мобильный телефон и часто начинает с ним играться. Однако, сегодня каждый родитель может без всяких проблем позвонить своему ребенку и узнать где он, и как себя чувствует, только с помощью именно таких устройств.
Конечно, с появлением новых технологий в видео, радио и телефонии наша жизнь намного упростилась, к примеру, чтобы вызвать врача уже нет необходимости в ночной прогулке по городу до ближайшего таксофона, либо в позднем звонке в соседскую дверь, с просьбой набрать чей либо номер. Безусловно, это к лучшему, но ведь не стоит забывать что существуют другие способы общения, ведь раньше, еще до появления самых примитивных средств радио и телефонии, люди были на много ближе друг к другу и в плане местоположения, и в плане человеческого отношения друг к другу. К примеру, раньше не стояло острой проблемы с поздним вызова врача или другой службы, человек просто мог придти к своим соседям и попросить осуществить звонок, сейчас же люди стали на столько избалованны современными средствами коммуникации, что могут просто сказать «Звонок 03 бесплатный» или подобные этому фразы, а может попросту вам не откроют дверь среди ночи, считая, что мобильный телефон есть сегодня у каждого человека. К сожалению, такие ситуации не редки, а их последствия могут быть разнообразными.

Конечно, телефон сделал наш мир лучше и проще, но Александр Грэхэм Бэлл, шотландец живущий в Америке, создавая в 1875 году свое чудо изобретение которое в последствии назвал телефоном, и не мог подозревать что его последователи не только создадут абсолютно беспроводной телефон, который весит не более ста грамм, что в 1957 году и продемонстрировал русский ученый Леонид Иванович Куприянович, но и начнут комбинировать придуманное и созданное Бэллом устройство с разными другими благами повседневной жизни, например, объединят работу целой телеграфной станции, в которой заняты десятки людей, отличное звучание хорошего оркестра, а также фото-студию в одном маленьком устройстве, называемом мобильным телефоном с функцией смс, фото, а зачастую и видео камерой. При всем же его содержании его габариты не велики, он свободно помещается в кармане и имеет очень маленький вес. Бесспорно, изобретение Бэлла сделало нашу жизнь намного удобнее и приятнее, ведь теперь не надо выстаивать бесконечные очереди в телеграфной, чтобы отправить буквально несколько фраз, а то и меньше, не надо сидеть в ожидании когда же подойдет ваша очередь, ведь мало дождаться, еще необходимо услышать как уставший голос оператора станции скажет что ваша очередь подошла. С появлением мобильных телефонов, люди постепенно пытаются забывать что такое АТС, ведь если сегодня человек желает просто позвонить своей роде в Москву или даже в Нью-Йорк, он просто набирает номер на своем мобильном.
Возможности современных коммуникационных средств довольно велики. Сегодня практически в каждом доме есть персональный компьютер с рабочей функцией «Интернет», что позволяет людям довольно просто общаться, не смотря на то, на каком расстоянии они находятся, причем не просто общаться, а делать это в режиме «Реального времени». На сегодняшний день существует огромное количество всевозможных программных средств, позволяющих людям вести переписку, слышать друг друга и даже вести видео-переговоры, что в наши дни пользуется большой популярностью. А также современные способности «Интернета» позволяют человеку не только не выходя из дома заказать себе продукты с доставкой на дом зайдя на сайт Интернет — магазина, оплачивать все счета, включая коммунальные, но и даже зарабатывать деньги. Однако, все это никогда не заменят человеческое общение «В живую», ведь с помощью всех созданных человечеством благ, человек создает вокруг себя некий мир, позволяющий ему творить и развиваться в нем. Считается что Интернет, да и в общем компьютер, буквально заставляет людей, все меньше пользоваться письменностью, ведь сегодня чтобы отправить письмо нет необходимости в написании письма на листке бумаги, достаточно открыть соответствующееИнтернет приложение и просто набрать текст.
Конечно, электронная почта намного проще и быстрее обычной, но ведь если люди перестанут пользоваться чернильными ручками, они попросту забудут красоту и первозданность рукописных текстов. Ведь через подчерк можно передать свои чувства, переживания. Но это сделать не возможно, ведь нормального восприятия мира, человек не может получить без живого общения, ведь люди общаются не только голосом, но и симпатизируя друг другу, действиями рук, мимикой лица и даже запахами. Просто подойдя к человеку и заговорив с ним, на бессознательном уровне, на уровне инстинктов, человек может сразу распознать кто перед ним, человек настроенный враждебно или человек просто приятный в общении, либо же по первому взгляду можно определить, что у человека сложности и он также бессознательно просит помощи. Всего этого нам не может позволить Интернет или мобильный телефон, с большим разнообразием своих функций, все эти устройства способны только лишь упростить повседневную суету, и никогда не заменят живого общения. Ведь общаясь «Тэт-а-тэт» мы порой и не замечаем, как решаются многие проблемы практически сами собой, как приятно иной раз просто увидеть человеческую улыбку.

According to a recent study, the more time people use the internet, the less time they spend with real human beings. Should we worry about the effect this is having on social interaction or should we see the internet as a way of opening up new communication possibilities worldwide? What are your views?
In today’s society, the Internet has made its way into almost every home. It has found a place in the hearts of many over the decades. With the advent of the latest technologies, now Internet is assessable not only through computers but also through mobile phones, providing an easy and convenient access to the web. In correlation to that, a research has brought to light that the more time people surf the Internet, the lesser is the time they spend with humans. This is certainly something that everyone should worry about. Though admittedly web is a great place for socializing, it can also pose negative impacts on human interactions.
Currently, we have many social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Friendster. These sites are places where we can find and make friends. Besides that, there are also messengers that enable anyone to chat, for instance MSN and Yahoo messenger. A study by the UNICEF shows that social networking websites have been voted as the fastest and easiest method of generating friendship compared to sending letters. Through these websites, we can without difficulty meet new friends and learn about their cultures as well as the traditions in their countries. Apart from that, we can also share our views on global and political issues which definitely open our horizons. To conclude, one can certainly benefit from communicating through Internet as it involves people from all over the world.
Nevertheless, looking from the another perspective, the more people spend their time online communicating with others from any part of the world, undoubtedly, the lesser is the time spent with their families and friends. According to a study done in Malaysia, most parents agree that their children tend to be so enthralled in chatting, that peeling them away from the computer can prove to be a complicated task. Consequently, they lack face to face interaction with family members and friends which will eventually result in them leading sedentary lifestyles and having poor social interaction skills.
Technology always has its positive and negative aspects. It is we who must be rational to analyze what is good and bad. Advisably, we must prepare ourselves well to be able to handle situations with a degree of reason and rationality. In short, we can utilize the Internet to unravel new communication possibilities but at the same time, human interactions must not be neglected.

thank you so much ajit rai. i appreciate that very much. i believe it is not too late for me to know the proper structure of an IELTS essay. i just have a few questions. hope you can clear them up for me.
1. if the essay is about to what extent do you agree or disagree with the view, then i can follow what you have mentioned above. first paragraph with the last line having the thesis statement. 2nd and 3rd having why i agree and the 4th is about the against points. but here in 4th paragraph i can just go totally against the points i mentioned in 2nd and 3rd right? i do not have to put arguments against my opinions which can be given/asked by any individual that should be encountered with a much bigger advantage in support of my opinion?
2. if the essay is about to do you agree or disagree with the view, then i can follow what u have mentioned above.

well the question u asked is very right… and if m understanding ur query correctly then in IELTS or any essay- the fourth para of the above structure should have small arguments against ur opinion.
NOTE-do not mention a very strong argument against ur opinion for which u dont have a good argument to counter… i know this sounds tricky-i also had the same problems but if u wanna really clear ur thought-just read the latest essays i posted n pay attention to the fourth para specifically… i used tomention a slight disadvantage but i used to counter it with a bigger advantage… if u need more help- u can email me too at ajit88rai@gmail.com

Whenever you say something like this, you have to cite the study. I mean, sometimes you are not REQUIRED to cite it, but you should require yourself to cite it. Otherwise, some of the strength leaks out of your writing. 🙂

Although many people blame technology for destroying nature and causing pollution, and say that it is the worst evil in the world , I still believe that it has greatly changed our lives for the better as we hardly imagine what would happen if we went for a day without technology.
Technology is very popular in our daily life thanks to its advantages. As we know, firstly, technology in household helps people do the housework. For example, housewives do not need to wash manually, but they can use washing machine.
Another reason why I advocate the viewpoint that technology has made the world a better place to live is that it makes the world smaller. Nowadays people can travel faster and easier to other places by car, bus and air-plane, and see many new interesting things around the world. In addition, they communicate with people in different countries through the Internet and phones, which saves them lots of time and money.
But the most worthwhile benefit technology has brought to us is that it makes us healthier and happier. Clear progress in medicine, use new technologies to diagnose and combat diseases make therapy more effective. It allows us to cure serious diseases such as cancer and cardiopathy. Statistics show that life expectancy is getting longer. In Europe, for example, today life expectancy has climbed past 80 and people are glad to be alive; the longer they live in good health, the happier they feel they are.
So, as we go forward into this ‘magical future’, will technology make the world a better place to live? Experts say it will!

People can hardly imagine their lives without modern technologies nowadays. It is almost impossible to go out without a mobile phone or an MP3 player, for example. These devices have become an important part of our life. Moreover, almost every day either a new technology is being invented or an old one is being improved. To stay up-to-date people keep buying newer items. Soon our houses and work places will look like electronic stores. Technology is all around us. First of all, we need it for work.
All modern offices are equipped with computers, scanners, printers, and other useful machines. One of the most important devices today is the wi-fi modem as it provides Internet. Secondly, technologies surround us at home, in cars and everywhere.
There are many people who are against new technologies. In my opinion, technological progress has made our lives more interesting and bright. Thanks to computers and Internet I find more educational resources. Such electronic items as vacuum-cleaner, washing machine, microwave, dish washer, blender and some others have made my mum’s life easier. So I’m sure that new technologies are for good. In conclusion, I’d like to say, that technological progress continues and it moves rather fast. Thus, I think that soon we will live in ‘smart’ houses with robots doing all housework instead of us.

Такая электроника, как пылесос, стиральная машина, микроволновая печь, посудомоечная машина, блендер и некоторые другие предметы, облегчили жизнь моей маме. Так что я уверен, что новые технологии к лучшему. В заключение я хотел бы сказать, что технологический прогресс продолжается, и он движется довольно быстро.
