Undoubtedly, the film industry provides a great choice
of what to watch depending on one’s mood and interests. I am currently working
on a project that is aimed at finding out the most popular film genres among
teenagers in Zetland. I have found some data presented in a pie chart
that I would like to analyse and comment on.
According to
the pie chart, the most popular film genre is fantasy (41%) while the least popular
one is melodrama as only a tiny minority tends to watch it. Such genre as
comedy is preferred by one in ten participants.
It stands out
that the respondents prefer fantasy (41%) and thriller (28%) films to others. However,
it may be noted that the former makes one engaged in a world full of magic
while the latter is far more connected with our lives as it shows something
that ordinary people can face. All this illustrates how different the respondents’
film tastes and ways of escapism are.
It goes
without saying that tastes differ. Thus, people may find it difficult to select
a film to watch together. One solution that can be put forward is opting for a
film that combines some genres which are beloved by those who are to watch it.
In conclusion,
it’s worth mentioning that comedy is the film genre I like best. Good jokes
always lift my spirits and make my day better.

Задание 40 – написание развернутого письменного высказывания с элементами рассуждения на основе таблицы/диаграммы.
Количество слов: 180-275 вместе с допустимой погрешностью в 10%.
Количество баллов: 14.
КРИТЕРИИ ВЫПОЛНЕНИЯ ЗАДАНИЯ:
- Решение коммуникативной задачи (3 балла);

Отмечу, что многие рекомендации для задания 40 в формате 2021 года ОСТАЮТСЯ В СИЛЕ!
Количество времени, отводимое на выполнение задания: 60-70 минут.
Стиль изложения: НЕЙТРАЛЬНЫЙ.
Еще раз обращаю внимание на то, что в новом формате развернутого письменного высказывания действуют те же требования: использовать в работе соответствующие средства логической связи; лексически, грамматически и орфографически правильно оформлять текст, придерживаясь правильного стиля (в данном случае нейтрального).
Это означает, что в развернутом ответе нельзя использовать:
1) риторические вопросы;
2) разговорные выражения и конструкции типа Let’s … (Let us и Let me – нейтральный стиль);
3) сниженную лексику типа folks (people)…
4) стяженные (краткие) формы глаголов (I’m, he’s, don’t, aren’t, can’t, didn’t, I’d like; исключение – needn’t).
В качестве примера возьмем задание 40.1 из демоверсии КИМ ЕГЭ на 2022 год.
Как мы видим, нам нужно написать эссе, проанализировав данные таблицы о том, какие книжные жанры популярны в воображаемой стране Зетланд.
В нашем эссе должно быть ПЯТЬ абзацев.
Давайте напишем вступление. В нем мы укажем важность темы нашей проектной работы, цель, а также кратко опишем, что показывают найденные нами статистические данные. Также мы должны указать аудиторию (teenagers/youngsters), страну Zetland желательно упомянуть в 1-3 абзацах.
The youngsters’ choice of literature has always been the subject of numerous arguments. The aim of my project is to disclose what book genres are popular with teenagers in Zetland, and the found data demonstrate some reading preferences.
Во втором абзаце можно рассмотреть максимальные и минимальные значения, ну или те, которые представляют для нас интерес. Выбираем 2-3 статистических показателя, все пять описывать не требуется, при этом стараемся избежать шаблонности.
Обращаю ваше внимание на то, что так как это письменное высказывание-рассуждение, необходимо использовать слова и выражения, характерные для рассуждений.
Отмечу, что “абзацы также имеют свою структуру: в первом предложении абзаца обычно выражена его основная мысль, которая далее развивается, подкрепляется аргументами, примерами и т.д.” (см. Методические рекомендации, 2021 год). Таким образом, все абзацы нашего эссе должны показывать, что это развернутое письменное высказывание с элементами РАССУЖДЕНИЯ. Как в старом формате задания 40 достаточно было привести 2 развёрнутых аргумента или 3 более кратких в поддержку своей позиции, так и в новом задании можно более развёрнуто описать 2 факта из статистики или привести 3 факта в более краткой форме, чтобы аспект был полностью раскрыт.
Логика проведения проектной работы с опорой на статистику предполагает, что экзаменуемый будет приводить конкретные цифры, представленные в таблице или в диаграмме. В инструкции ясно сказано: числительные надо писать цифрами, а не словами, т.е. требуется приведение конкретных цифр. Однако возможно частично описательное представление результатов опроса, например, «half», «third», «nearly a quarter», если оно не искажает приведенные в статистике данные и является эквивалентом числового представления. Тем не менее, цифры обязательно должны присутствовать, также можно их указывать в скобках.
According to the statistics, adventure and detective, war, spy stories are preferred by over 50% of the surveyed, which signifies that books containing action, that is battles, investigations are on the reading list first. Besides, the above-mentioned genres are considered trendy among teenagers. Romance has the least popularity with the lowest percentage shown (17.6%). This proves that young people have little interest in it while preferring others.
В третьем абзаце мы сравниваем показатели в таблице, делаем 1-2 значимых сравнения. При этом повторяться со вторым пунктом можно, если это не полное дублирование информации, а дано другое языковое оформление.
The data show significant differences in the choice of book genres among teenagers. Thus, sports stories (49.2%) are almost three times more popular than romance (17.6%), which witnesses that young people find the first type more exciting. Evidently, books about love affairs are read by adults mostly, not by the younger generation.
В четвертом абзаце нам нужно выявить проблему, которая может возникнуть в данной связи – reading и предложить путь ее решения. Проблема может как следовать из статистических данных, так и быть отвлеченной.
The project has revealed a problem in teenagers’ reading tastes. Young people tend to choose books of entertaining genres, leaving serious literature out of their field of interest. To turn them towards other types of books, some measures should be undertaken. For instance, school reading contests devoted to thought-provoking books could be organised to motivate youngsters to change their reading habits.
В заключении делаем вывод о важности чтения для подростков и при этом обязательно указываем свое мнение. Должны присутствовать такие фразы, как: I think, in my opinion и др. Если автор прямо не указывает, что мнение принадлежит ему, то такой аспект будет считаться нераскрытым.
In conclusion, I would like to emphasise the importance of reading for teenagers because, in my opinion, it is necessary for the enrichment of their inner world. Moreover, books are an inexhaustible source of knowledge that broadens our horizons.

Statistics reveal one problem connected with reading. Obviously, there are no classical books in the table. Thus, teenagers in Zetland prefer reading books for relaxation than broadening their horizons. One solution to this problem is to organize discussing clubs for the adolescents there they can meet professors and theater actors, read together and read serious books. Live communication encourages better than boring lessons.
38.2 Many people believe that smartphones have become an essential part of modern life. The aim of the project I am working on is to find out what people use their smartphones for in Zetland. As part of my project, I have found and analyzed some relevant data presented in the diagram.
According to the data, there is quite a wide range of reasons when it comes to using smartphones. It is clear, that the vast majority of the respondents enjoy emailing as well as making phone calls (79% and 78% respectively). Surfing the internet is also quite popular with the smartphone users (58%), whereas paying for purchases appears to be at the bottom of the table.
It is worth mentioning that smartphones are used for playing computer games less often than for emailing. To my mind, it is comfortable to be in touch everywhere when it comes to business. At the same time, gaming is the most popular pastimes among teenagers.

One problem that people often face using smartphones is the poor quality of signal in some areas. It is very crucial nowadays due to the internet is necessary for using all options that modern devices provide. One solution to this problem is to create free Wi-Fi zones in public places, such as libraries, railway stations, parks where people can spend their time effectively and gain access to the internet for free.
38.1 Today online communication has become an inseparable part of our lives. While doing a project on what social networks are used by teenagers in Zetland for communication, I found a diagram containing some relevant data that I am going to comment on.
According to the diagram, Instagram tops the list with 33% of the adolescents in Zetland using it. Snapchat is the second most popular social media platform chosen by 32% of the surveyed. It should be noted that only 3% of the respondents like Twitter.
The polling percentage shows that using Instagram is almost 10 times more popular than Twitter and this is not surprising. Instagram offers such features as liking comments, replying to specific comments, asking questions and taking polls in Stories as well as sending direct messages. Unexpectedly, Facebook also seems to be one of the least preferred social media services with 5% of the surveyed.

Although social media applications seem to be more a friend than a foe, overusing them causes people to spend less time interacting face-to-face and this seems to be a problem. To solve the problem, people should try to meet more often offline. Seeing each other lets people pick up body language and therefore understand one another better.
38.2 Listening to music has benefits for learning, mental health, and physical well-being. While doing a project on what pieces of classical music people in Zetland can recognize when they hear them, I found a diagram containing some relevant data that I am going to comment on.
According to the diagram, the residents of Zetland are well acquainted with the music by Ludwig van Beethoven because 36% of them can easily recognize Fur Elise and 30% can identify Ode to Joy. It can also be seen that very few people know Flight of the Bumblebee by Rimsky-Korsakov and Clair de Lune by DeBussy with 4% and 2% of the respondents respectively.
The data analysis reveals that Wedding March by Mendelson, recognized by 28% of the surveyed, is only by 2% less famous than Ode to Joy by Beethoven. Surprisingly, the music that everyone can listen to during every wedding ceremony is not very popular.

The influence of films on teenagers has been studied really well, and although we are yet to see many new studies in this field, some of the priorities have already been set. Watching some genres of films has a negative effect on the teenager psyche. So which genre of films do teenage kids prefer? The main portion of participants, 34.72% think that fantasy is the genre. Teenagers watch everything, say 28.83%. Another 19.55% of the Advisors think that the favorite trio of teenagers in movies is horrors, thrillers and catastrophe films. Comedies, drama and detectives tolled 13.36%, 1.66% and 1.13% of votes correspondingly. Although watching a film on a big screen might be very interesting for a teenager, some scenes in the film have a very negative effect on the mindset and mental outlook of children. It’s no secret that different age groups have different reading preferences. This project I am working on is aimed at establishing what book genres are popular among 13-19 year olds in Zetland. I have found some data on this issue and organized it in a table. In this essay I am going to analyse my findings.

55 percent of teenagers= more than half of teenagers=the majority of teenagers
As can be seen from the table, the majority of the respondents cited adventure stories as their preferred book genre, making this kind of books most popular with Zetland’s teenagers. Adventure fiction is very closely followed by detective, war and spy stories, which are also liked by more than half of teenage readers. Another key feature is that less than a fifth of the surveyed teenagers reported enjoying reading romances, putting this genre at the bottom of the table.

The table also shows that sports stories, enjoyed by 49 percent of teenage boys and girls, are just slightly less popular than the first two most read genres. By contrast, animal stories with 27 percent are only half as popular as the two reading genres.

Fortunately, book lovers can effectively deal with this issue by taking regular breaks from reading and giving their eyes some rest.
