Recent studies show that fireign languages are becoming more and more popular. To learn more about it, I have found some information on what what ways of learning foreign languages are used by people in Zetland. As a part of my project, I have analyzed these data and come across some interesting findings.

According to the data I have found in the diagram, humans in Zetland have a lot of ways to study foreign languages. The majority of the respondents prefer attending a course or working with a tutor (51%) whereas writing a penpal in a foreign language is the least popular method (1%). Listening to music is also quite popular among people in Zetland, making up 26% of the respondents respectively.

It is noticeable that there is a substantial difference between the most and the least favored ways of studying foreign languages, Attending a course or working with a tutor is at 50 times more popular than writing a penpal in a foreign language. The difference between people who prefer watching films in a foreign language and chatting with international friends is also considerable. It is less than 5% which is surprising because both of these approaches are not favored by humans in Zetland.

Although there are a lot of tricks of studying foreign languages, people can come across some problems learning them. For example, people do not have enough practice of speaking. The best solution is to find a native speaker to talk to every day.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that languages are essential for people because it gives more opportunities for finding a well-paid job and visiting other countries.

На улице разгар лета, и кажется, что сейчас не время думать об экзаменах, тем более что демонстрационная версия 2023 года будет официально опубликована только в ноябре. Тем не менее, если ваши ученики планируют сдавать экзамен в следующем году, уже сейчас имеет смысл проанализировать и проработать сложности, которые возникли у выпускников, впервые выполнявших задание в новом формате.

Итак, напомним, как выглядит задание 40.

Задание 40 оценивается по пяти критериям: 

  • решение коммуникативной задачи,  
  • организация текста,  
  • лексика,  
  • грамматика,  
  • орфография/пунктуация.

В этой статье мы разберем правила успешного решения коммуникативной задачи (или РКЗ). Это крайне важно, так как если эксперт поставит 0 за РКЗ, то все задание 40 будет оценено в 0 баллов.

Как получить максимальный балл за задание 40

Согласно критериям оценивания, чтобы получить максимально возможные три балла за решение коммуникативной задачи, нужно выполнить задание полностью. Содержание должно полно и точно отражать все аспекты. Кроме того, важно и стилевое стилевое оформление подобрать корректно. Допускается один неполный/неточный ответ и одно нарушение нейтрального стиля.

Итак, какие же правила помогут выпускнику получить заветные три балла за РКЗ? На самом деле главное правило одно — внимательно читать задание.

Попросите ученика обратить внимание подчеркнуть:

  1. Ключевые слова в теме проекта.
  2. Что согласно заданию вы нашли (таблицу или диаграмму). 
  3. С чем должна быть связана проблема в четвертом абзаце.
  4. О чем нужно выразить собственное мнение в пятом абзаце.
  5. Какие факты из таблицы/диаграммы вы будете представлять во втором абзаце и какие сравнивать в третьем (всего в работе должны быть озвучены 3-5 фактов из таблицы/диаграммы).

Правила и советы для получения высокого балла

Среди других правил выделим следующие:

1. По условиям задания студент находит таблицу/диаграмму с данными опроса определенной группы людей из определенной страны, а не собирает данные из разных мест и помещает их в таблицу. Это важно учитывать при написании первого абзаца. 

2. Во втором абзаце студенту не нужно забывать числом указывать проценты. 

Например: The majority of the teenagers in Zetland prefer reading adventure stories (55.4%)

3. В третьем абзаце должно быть четко видно одно или два сравнения. Пусть ученик использует степени сравнения или сравнительные структуры.

4. Важно внимательно прочитать, с чем именно должна быть связана проблема, которую нужно представить в четвертом абзаце. Пусть ученик четко формулирует проблему и предлагает ее оптимальное решение. 

5. Студенту нужно внимательно прочитать последний пункт плана и написать полное, развернутое заключение. Последний абзац — это выражение его мнения, поэтому важно использовать I-statements.

Задание 38 в письменной части ЕГЭ занудно называется “развёрнутое письменное высказывание с элементами рассуждения на основе таблицы/диаграммы” и является заданием повышенного уровня сложности (B2). Но я его дальше буду именовать просто “проект”. Не таблицы и не графики, и с Writing task 1 на IELTS это задание почти не имеет общего. Period

Да, или-или. Потому что ученику нужно будет выбрать, какое задание он захочет делать, и написать перед описанием проекта соответствующую цифру в бланке – 38.1 или 38.2.

Проект – задание вкусное, потому что может принести 14 баллов на экзамене. И если письмо (задание 37) рекомендую писать сразу на чистовик, чтобы сэкономить время, то проект лучше распланировать и написать сначала на черновик, а потом перенести в бланк ответов.

Рекомендуемое время написания задания 38 на экзамене – 60 минут.

Критерии оценивания

Чтобы понять, как писать нужно, ознакомимся с критериями оценивания задания 38 с сайта ФИПИ.

Решение коммуникативной задачи

По критерию “решение коммуникативной задачи” можно максимум получить 3 балла. Расшифрую, за что их дают:

  • Проект написано в соответствии с темой
  • Проект написан по плану
  • Все пункты из таблицы указаны в работе
  • В нём достаточно слов
  • Стиль нейтральный

Количество слов, необходимое для получения максимального балла, указано в самом задании – “Write 200-250 words”. Допустимо отклонение от заданного объема на 10%. То есть, можно написать от 180 до 275 слов. Если напишите меньше 180 слов, задание проверять не будут – эксперт поставит 0 за решение коммуникативной задачи, а 0 за этот пункт означает 0 за все задание 38. И довольный учитель проверяет на 1 сочинение меньше. А если ученик превысит порог в 275 слов, эксперт отчеркнет 250-е слово и дальше просто проверять не будет. То есть, если за 250 словами остались контраргументы или заключение, они просто не будут засчитаны и максимум за этот критерий вам не видать.

Про критерии подсчета слов. При определении соответствия объёма представленной работы вышеуказанным требованиям считаются все слова, с первого слова по последнее, включая вспомогательные глаголы, предлоги, артикли, частицы. При этом:
 числительные, выраженные цифрами, т.е. 1, 25, 2009, 126 204 и т.п., считаются как одно слово;
 числительные, выраженные цифрами, вместе с условным обозначением процентов, т.е. 25%, 100% и т.п., считаются как одно слово;
 числительные, выраженные словами, считаются как слова;
 сложные слова, такие как good-looking, well-bred, English-speaking, twenty-five, считаются как одно слово;
 сокращения, например USA, e-mail, TV, CD-rom, считаются как одно слово.

Нейтральный стиль соблюден, если в задании 38 нет сокращений (I’m sure/ doesn’t matter/ wasn’t stated) и разговорной лексики (it is stupid to think so/ this opinion sucks/ the people wearing such clothes are mad). Нельзя писать риторические вопросы и фразы типа “Let’s consider … “, потому что ФИПИ относит их к разговорному стилю.

Организация текста

Максимум по этому критерию – также 3 балла. Их можно получить если:

  • проект правильно разделен на абзацы
  • написано логично и присутствуют средства логической связи

Понятно, что нужно писать столько абзацев, сколько есть в плане (пять!) и каждый должен передавать мыслю, соответствующую пункту плана.

Ниже подробнее о том, что нужно писать в этих пяти абзацах и какие клише там использовать.

Вступление (параграф №1)

“Правильное” вступление состоит из 2-3 предложений и знакомит нас с проблемой, указанной в самом задании. Например, в примере нашего задания написано “what book genres are popular among teenagers”. Значит, нам нужно или вставить эту фразу в наш проект, или заменить там что-то на синонимы. Так же нужно упомянуть, что вы делаете проект, нашли материалы к нему и сейчас про это будете рассказывать. Вот, какое вступление получилось у меня:

It is hard to deny the importance of having a good rest. I have decided to do a project on how teenagers in Zetland relax after a busy day and found the results of opinion polls which you can find in the table

Жирным выделены фразы, которые можно таскать из сочинения в сочинение.

Еще клише для этого абзаца:

  • It is well known that (topic)
  • Nowadays more and more people (action connected with the topic)
  • Over the last few decades there has been a significant increase in the number of people who (do something connected with the topic).
  • (Topic) plays an important role in our life
  • Undoubtedly, all people (action connected with the topic)
  • Nowadays it is impossible to imagine … without …

Основные фичи графика (параграф №2)

В плане сочинения во втором абзаце ученику предлагается высказать указать 2-3 главных факта из таблицы/графика или что там нам нужно проанализировать. Я бы остановилась на двух фактах, потому что когда пробовала написать это письменное задание, у меня с двумя фактами вышло 260 слов. Третий бы мог меня вывезти за лимит возможных слов. Но вы можете упомянуть и 3 главных факта, главное – уложиться в необходимое количество слов.

На самом деле, этот абзац написать совсем не сложно – выбираете что угодно, что вам нравится в таблице и записываете английскими словами. Ничего сравнивать здесь не надо.

Вот то, что у меня получилось:

As we can see from the table, 38% of respondents prefer doing a hobby after a busy day, while eating tasty food is the least popular way of spending teenagers’ free time with only 6 % of teenagers doing it. Also, adolescents can spend time with their friends, sleep and walk in the open air to have a rest after a tiring day.

  • one can see from the poll that …
  • the most popular … the least popular …
  • if we look at the graph/table/pie chart, we can see …
  • looking at the main features …
  • what stands out from the table/graph/ pie chart …

Сравнения (параграф №3)

В 3 абзаце нужно проанализировать данные из графика и представить 1-2 сравнения и свои комментарии к ним. Можно и 1, можно и 2 – все зависит от ваших идей и количества написанных слов.

НЕТ СВЯЗИ между тем, сколько вы фактов выделяли во 2-м абзаце и количеством сравнений в 3-м. Можно делать по-разному, главное – вписаться в план и лимит слов.

Сравниваем ЛЮБЫЕ черты, которые вам понравились в графике. Вот что получилось у меня:

Looking at the figures in the table, we can see that spending time with friends (noted by 31% of respondents) is almost twice as popular as sleeping, which stands at 15%, and almost three times more popular than walking in the open air (noted by 10 % of respondents). It is not surprising as teenagers need communication to develop their personality.

Тут, как и во втором параграфе, нет единственно правильного ответа. Пишите про то, что вам кажется логичным.

Сюда отлично впишутся разные сравнительные структуры: 

  • in comparison/ in contrast, …
  • on the other hand …/ However, … / Likewise, …
  • not as … as
  • more popular … than
  • while/ whereas / although / but

И фразы для комментариев:

  • , which is not surprising as …
  • This can be explained by the fact that …
  • The main reason for that might be the fact that …

Проблема + решение (параграф №4)

Эта часть письменного задания будет самой объемной, потому что нужно указать проблему, связанную с темой проекта, и предложить её решение. Это может быть ЛЮБАЯ проблема по теме задания. В нашем примере она не обязательна связана именно с подростками, главное – она должна быть про чтение.

Кстати, об этом говорит сама Вербицкая вот здесь (около 26 минуты в видео).

Еще раз подчеркну, что нужно указать и ПРОБЛЕМУ, И РЕШЕНИЕ. На всякий случай.

Мой вариант:

Although we see that there are several ways to relax for teenagers, there is a problem connected with having a rest. Sometimes it is difficult to switch off from your studies and work, and instead of relaxing you spend time thinking about what else you have to do later. I believe that the best solution to this problem would be going out as fresh air and change of scenery can help to forget about things that keep bothering you at home.

Клише для абзаца:

  • the main problem with … is …
  • the main problem faced by … is …
  • the foremost problem here is …
  • general solutions centre around …
  • one effective solution to deal with … is …
  • a solution that can prove successful is …

Заключение + мнение (параграф №5)

В конце выстраданного письменного задания нужно написать свое мнение по теме проекта.

I would like to conclude by saying that relaxing is of primary importance for every person as it helps one to have a calmer and clearer mind which aids memory, positive thinking and concentration.

Выражения для подведения итогов:

  • To conclude/ sum up/ summarise
  • Overall …
  • In conclusion …

Клише для выражения своего мнения:

  • I believe that … because …
  • I am convinced that … as …
  • I strongly believe that …
  • Personally, I think that …
  • In my opnion, …
  • In my view, …

Лексические ошибки

Давайте разберем, какие ошибки носят гордое название “Лексические”. Это:

  • неправильно употребленное слово в контексте (I would not speak so вместо I would not say so)
  • ошибка в сочетаемости (make homework вместо do homework)
  • пропуск слова, если он не влияет на грамматическую структуру предложения (My parents are very well familiar (пропущен предлог with) the topic)
  • ошибки в словообразовании, если часть речи не меняется (например, unresponsible вместо irresponsible)
  • ошибка в фразовом глаголе (give in smoking вместо give up smoking)
  • орфографическая ошибка, которая меняет значение слова (thing вместо think, whether вместо weather)

Но нужно не только не допустить ошибки, нужно помнить, что лексика должна соответствовать поставленной задаче. То есть, если проект про еду – должны употребляются всякие синонимы и выражения по теме “еда”.

Грамматические ошибки

Эксперт при проверке задания 38 присваивает вашей ошибке статус “грамматической”, если она:

  • в любой грамматической форме, будь то форма глагола, множественного числа сущ., степени сравнения и в любой теме из раздела “Грамматические темы” кодификатора
  • в порядке слов в предложении (например, I do not know what are they thinking about. – Во второй части предложения обратный порядок слов, хотя знака вопроса не стоит)
  • есть пропуск слова, влияющий на структуру предложения (например, These people wrong. – Отсутствует глагол-связка “are”)
  • в словообразовании, если меняется часть речи (например, хотели написать “политик” (politician), а написали politic (политический)

В сочинении приветствуются сложные структуры, модальные глаголы, обороты с пассивом/ инфинитивом/ причастиями, условные предложения, главное – не перестараться и ‘не писать все красивое сразу”, в ущерб смыслу.

Орфографические и пунктуационные ошибки

В сочинении орфографическими ошибками считаются:

  • Все ошибки, не меняющие значения слова (например, collegue, becouse, languaege)
    (Если ошибка меняет значение слова, она становится лексической – например, thing вместо think, whether вместо weather)
  • Если слово в работе написано один раз правильно, а остальные – неправильно, это считается ошибкой
  • Если буква или слово написаны неразборчиво, слово считается написанным неверно

Во всей письменной части экзамена ученик может выбрать либо британский, либо американский вариант написания слова – favourite/ favorite, colour/ color, drugstore/ pharmacy, crisps/ chips. И придерживаться выбранного варианта до конца. То есть, если в одном предложении написано colour, а в другом – favorite, такая вариативность будет записана в число ошибок.

Теперь про пунктуацию. Забудьте про сокращения  (don’t/wouldn’t/mustn’t) – они отнимут у вас баллы. Их можно и нужно писать в электронном письме другу (задание 39), но не в сочинении.

Если ученик напишет какие-то слова в работе неразборчиво, и эксперт не сможет понять, что же там написано –  поставят ошибку в написании слова.

Образец

План написания проекта представлен в самом задании:

– make an opening statement on the subject of the project work;
– select and report 2-3 main features;
– make 1-2 comparisons where relevant and give comments;
– outline a problem that can arise with having a rest and suggest the way of solving it;
– draw a conclusion giving your personal opinion on the importance of relaxing well in our lives.

Приведу пример ответа на задание 38.1 из демоверсии:

Алгоритм написания

  1. Отводите 60 минут на это задание.
  2. Просмотрите оба проекта и решите, какой из них понятнее и легче описать.
  3. Читайте тему проекта и набрасываете в двух словах, что вы скажете на каждый пункт плана. После того, как набросали, проверяете всё и убеждаетесь, что все написанное СООТВЕТСТВУЕТ ТЕМЕ ПРОЕКТА.
  4. Напишите проект на черновик. Если у вас осталось мало времени – пишите сразу на чистовик.
  5. Проверьте ошибки. Здесь советую вспомнить свои типичные “ляпы” и проверить работу на них.
  6. Перепишите на чистовик. Проверьте ошибки, проверьте, что написали номер задания (38.1 или 38.2) в начале.

P.S. – Если вы читаете задание на экзамене и понимаете, что не знаете какое-то слово в теме, не паникуйте! Успокойтесь и попробуйте угадать, как это слово может переводиться.

Готовиться к заданию 38 я бы советовала, когда уровень ученика соответствует хотя бы B1 (идеально – B2, потому что он заявлен как ключ к успеху на ЕГЭ).

Оставлю здесь схему оценивания проекта, которой пользуется эксперт при проверке.

Её полезно показать ученику при подготовке и вместе заполнять, оценивая по ней сначала написанные вами (или другими учениками) проекты, а потом проект самого учащегося.

Recent studies show that people tend to celebrate traditional holidays more often. For my project, I have found some information about humans in Zetland. The data includes the results of the opinion polls illustrating what traditional holiday is the most essential for people. In this essay I am going to analyze this information and express my own opinion on the importance of celebrating traditional holidays in families.

As can be seen from the diagram, the holiday like National Day tops the list, standing at 45% whereas Mother’s Day ranks last in the diagram with only 6 %. The other three categories include The New Year (20%), Christmas (15%) and Easter (14%)

There is a substantial difference between the most and the least important holiday for people. The number of humans who enjoy celebrating National Day is almost at 8 times more than ones who like Mother’s Day. This can be explained by fact that all the country celebrates National Day and it is more significant for people.

Nowadays celebrating traditional holidays may be really expensive as not all people can afford to make a party or dinner. The best solution is to celebrate traditional holidays among loved humans and relatives who can help with the organization or even bring food and decorations.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that celebrating traditional holiday in families is very important. Doing it, closest people unite with each other and conserve the families’ traditions together.

Recent studies show that nowadays a lot of people want to stay healthy. For my project I have found some information in the table about humans in Zetland. The data includes the results of the opinion polls illustrating how people stay healthy. In this essay I am going to analyze this information and express my own opinion on the importance of staying healthy.

As can be seen from the table, the way like not eating junk food tops the list, standing at 42%, whereas doing morning exercises ranks last in the table with only 2%. Some Zetlanders also prefer having a balanced diet (24%). The other two approaches include doing sport (22%) and getting to bed early (10%).

There is a substantial difference between the most and the least popular way of stay healthy. The number of humans who prefer not to eat junk food is at 40% more than ones who enjoy doing morning exercises. Rushing up and down the streets, I often have days when I wonder how I will find the time to eat. This is when it becomes easy for students to turn to fast food. Once you stop living close by or have awkward time gaps between classes, fast food is available at almost every on-campus eatery.

There’s no doubt that the university tries to make healthier food readily available. Some cafes have organic foods ready to go and Greenhouse allows students to make almost any kind of fresh salad they can think of. But I have to wonder, why is there so much fast food available? For many students, it’s difficult to choose an expensive salad from Greenhouse over a meal from Taco Bell.

To solve the problem of finding healthy food on campus without having to eat salad daily, I do three things: take advantage of meal options I previously disregarded, completely ignore any fast food place and get creative in the dining halls.

First, I take advantage of meal options I had previously disregarded at on-campus restaurants. Being both a vegetarian and interested in a fair-trade diet has made it somewhat challenging to arrange an eating plan while living on campus. With limited options, food gets old fast. I looked closely at menus to see what options I overlooked. On campus, I eat oatmeal and fresh fruit instead of getting smoothies. I try the soup at Greenhouse instead of salad. If I have time in the morning I use an extra swipe and pack a lunch. By including this, I now have something new to eat each day, and I can go an entire school week without repeating a lunch.

As I create a pattern of eateries to maintain a healthy diet without losing interest in the food, it is clear I cannot include every on-campus restaurant in my plan.

This is where my second solution comes in. I have learned to completely ignore fast food. If I linger in front of Panda Express or Sbarro too long, temptation takes over. I started ignoring these places in the middle of fall quarter, and now I can walk by them without a thought. The only way I know to accomplish this is willpower. Of course, that does not mean in any way that you should never allow yourself the occasional visit to these restaurants. Everyone deserves a treat sometimes. I know I can never give up animal-style fries completely.

Finally, I have learned to get creative in dining halls. This can’t easily be done outside a dining hall, so it isn’t exactly an «on-the-go» solution to eating on campus. Just the same, it can help make meals less boring. I often take a veggie patty and make a wrap out of it, and I use the salad bar to throw on any other toppings I want. I use the microwave to heat up whatever I want in it. If you are a meat lover, you can put the bacon bits from the salad bar or slice a grilled chicken breast to put in soup or pasta.

When living on a college campus, it can be difficult to find a way to eat what you like and what’s good for you while trying to avoid a repetitive diet. There are a limited number of options available and the dominance of fast food can be hard to ignore. But if you try out as many places as you can, use willpower and turn on your creativity, you can certainly design your own healthy meal plan that won’t feel as if you eat the same thing every day.

Nowadays it is rather hard to choose the right profession for young people because there are so many occupations in the world. Some teenagers simply follow in their parents’ footsteps when choosing a career without thinking through. However, some people think that choosing a profession should depend on interests and individual qualities.

As for me, I think a person should choose a profession independently. To begin with, people are different let alone their interests, so consideration one’s strong points and individual qualities when choosing a profession is very important. Furthermore, if a person chooses the career he or she is fond of, the likelihood of becoming successful and independent is higher because this person will always know what to do and never leave things half done.

On the other hand, some people claim that following in parents’ footsteps when choosing a profession gives more chances to gain success easily and fast. In their mind, parents will always help and encourage their children with the occupation, so the first steps of a career ladder will be easy.

Communication via Internet is a sensitive issue nowadays. Some say it can result in losing real-life social skills, others argue that is almost impossible.

I tend to agree with the latter for two main reasons, with the first one being the fact that online communication does not prohibit you from meeting those you chat with when you have the chance. I for myself tend to agree with the former. I consider myself a lazy, but a responsible person, so when there is an exam or a job to be done, I do my best, otherwise I lean towards wasting time and having fun and I am sure I am not the only one like that, so there is a certain number of students that study hard mainly to pass the upcoming exams. Moreover, the exams let the students see how well they are actually doing, which is quite important in my opinion.

I can’t agree with those statements for two main reasons. Firstly, the fear actually stimulates students to work harder because a student that studied all that he had to is sure to pass a properly designed exam. Secondly, the composition of the exam should require all the knowledge the students’ course had to offer, so the «funneling» problem comes not from the concept of an exam, but from how it is implemented, which is often done wrong due to the human factor.

I can identify two main features of the statistics presented in the table. The first one is that the highest level of motorisation can be found in the USA. The second one is that the lowest number of cars per capita is in India at just 42 vehicles per 1000 people.

It is also worth mentioning that the UK only has slightly more vehicles than Russia, surpassing it by just 85.

In my opinion, the statistics in the table reveal an important problem. Some countries have too many vehicles, which contributes to urban sprawl and negatively affects the population. I think that in order to solve this problem governments should focus more on developing public transport, such as buses and light rail.

In conclusion, I believe that controlling the number of motor vehicles is vital for keeping the balance between a healthy industry and a healthy population.

40.2. Life expectancy in Russia can give a useful insight of the development of a country. My project, which I am still working on, is aimed at finding out the life expectancy in Russia. I have found some data on this issue and organized it in the chart below

I can identify two main features of the statistics presented in the chart below. The first one is that the lowest life expectancy in Russia was in 2001. The second one is that the highest life expectancy is 76 years old in 2019.

It is also worth mentioning that the life expectancy has been increasing rapidly since 2001.

In my opinion, the statistics in the chart reveal an important problem. We can see that the life expectancy has doubled since 1971 to 2019, which means that there are even more retired and older people in Russia. I think that in order to solve this problem the government should promote more immigration of younger people to fill in the job positions that the elderly have left behind.

In conclusion, I believe that the promotion of more jobs for immigrants should maintain the economy at a higher growth path. This would balance out the decrease of the economic growth that is a result of the increase of the life expectancy.

My project, which I am still working on, is aimed at analyzing the percentage of households which have a computer. I have found some data on this issue and organised it in the graph below.

I can identify two main features of the statistics presented in the graph. The first one is that the highest level of computer usage was in 2016, at nearly 80%. The second one is that the lowest percentage of households with a computer was in 1984.

It is also worth mentioning that the highest leap was between 1993 and 2000, with a rise in computer usage of about 30%.

In my opinion, the statistics in the table reveal an important problem. As of 2016, there still are more than 20% of households don’t have a PC, which reduces the ability of those unable to buy a computer to self-educate. To solve this problem, governments should increase the availability of PCs for low-income households.

In conclusion, I believe that computers are essential in the modern world, both for education and work, so making them available to the general public is an extremely important task for all of humanity.

I can identify two main features of the statistics presented in the chart. The first one is that the highest amount of land was burned in 2020, at more than 10 million acres. The second one is that the smallest area was affected in 2019.

It is also worth mentioning that only slightly less land was burned in 2017 than in 2020.

In my opinion, the statistics in the table reveal an important problem. A huge number of forests are affected by wildfires every year and the numbers for the recent years are the highest yet. To solve this problem, government agencies should aim to stop preventable wildfires from occurring, such as wildfires that result from irresponsible bonfire extinguishing in forests.

In conclusion, I believe that fighting wildfires is an important task that people should focus on to save both the natural reserves of the world and the lives of many who may die from a wildfire.

40.1 Many people believe that birthday is a special holiday for everyone. The purpose of the project I am currently working on is to find out more about it. As part of my project, I have found and analyzed some data on most popular birthday presents for teenagers in Zetland.

According to the data, there is quite a wide range of presents people traditionally give teenagers for their birthdays. It is clear that the majority of the respondents (46%) consider money to be the best gift. Moreover, a great number of people (23%) prefer buying gadgets for teenage birthday. It is worth mentioning that chocolate is the best present for 16% of the respondents.

Surprisingly, only 9% of the respondents think buying soft toys as birthday presents for the adolescents. It is a bit more popular answer than jewellery. To my mind, push toys seem to be childish and jewellery are commonly interesting for girls.

One problem that can arise with choosing birthday present is that sometimes people buy the same things. Unfortunately, it happens and it is unpleasant for everybody. One solution to this problem is to use special appliance where a birthday boy can write his wish list and guests can choose present to buy and tick it.

40.2 Nowadays a lot of teenagers spend their free time visiting museums particularly there is a variety of museums and galleries. The aim of the project I am currently working on is to find out what museums teenagers like visiting in Zetland. As part of my project, I have found and analyzed some relevant data presented in the diagram.

According to the data, the younger generation in Zetland has quite a wide range of tastes when it comes to cultural enrichment. It is clear, that the vast majority of the respondents prefer visiting interactive museums, 70% of the teenagers have named them. Also, 18% of the interviewed adolescents like spending time going to science museums, whereas historical museums, art galleries and museums of local history appear to be the least popular places to visit.

It is worth mentioning that spending time learning local history is four times less interesting for the teenage visitors than learning history in general. To my mind, historical discoveries attract young generation more than things nearby.

One problem that can arise with visiting museums is that excursions are usually uninteresting owing to the visitors can only walk, look and listen to the guide. One solution to this problem is to organize interactive excursions so that the visitors can touch, try to use or try on copies of museums objects. It makes a visit to a museum to become an adventure.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that visiting museums and art galleries play a significant role in teenagers’ life. It helps them learn something new and broaden the horizons. (261 words)

One solution to this problem is to create special crossing centers where tourists can wait for their flight or train comfortably. Furthermore, multi-tickets and discounts can be provided for the convenience.

According to the data, the adolescents in Zetland use social media a lot, 70% of the respondents said they do it more than once a day. Surprisingly, the second popular answer is avoiding social media, 18% of teenagers do not use it at all.

It is worth mentioning that using social media weekly is four times more popular answer than using it daily. Moreover, there are adolescents who do it from time to time, and their number equals to those who use social media once a day.

The data indicate that modern teenagers in Zetland tend to use social media every day. Probably they chat with their friends, look for the latest news or just have fun watching short videos. The great problem that can arise with this fact is that younger generation spends too much time surfing the internet instead of studying. One solution to this problem is to create special messengers for students where there are chatting rooms as well as online dictionaries and libraries so that teenagers could talk to each other and study together.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that despite some problems associated with social media, teenagers in Zetland use it for different reasons. I hope they spend their time not only chatting but also discussing various problems. (264 words)

Recent studies show that teenagers’ reading habits have changed. To find out more about it, I have collected some information
on what literary genres are popular with teenagers living in Zetland. As part of my project, I have analyzed these data and come
across some interesting findings.

According to the data, teenagers in Zetland have quite a wide range of tastes when it comes to genres of literature. The vast
majority of the respondents enjoy reading adventure and detective stories as well as books about war and spies. Sports stories
are also quite popular with teenage readers in Zetland whereas animal stories and romantic novels appear to be far less
popular.

Surprisingly, only 27.2% and 17.6% of those surveyed like reading animal stories and romance. By contrast, adventure novels are
favoured by a much higher proportion of the respondents (55.4%, to be exact), followed closely by detective, war and spy stories
at 55.3%. The percentage of those who enjoy reading sports stories is only slightly lower, making up 49.2%.

Although teenagers in Zetland seem to be interested in reading, globally, young people are reading fewer books than before. The
problem is that today’s teenagers get easily discouraged by long and challenging texts. As a result, they feel frustrated and lose
motivation to read, which affects the development of their comprehension skills and academic performance. The best solution to
this problem is to let teenagers choose their reading for themselves and encourage them to read on a regular basis.

It is hard to underestimate the role of literature in our life. My project which I am still working on is aimed at analyzing why people in Zetland should study literature. I have found some data on this issue presented in the pie chart.

According to the pie chart, I can say that 22% of the respondents chose the answer to escape from daily routine. 18% consider that people should study literature to learn about the past.

The most popular reason for studying literature is to widen horizons while the least popular is to discuss books with friends. New facts and interesting stories that we know due to books allow us to be interesting people and we can easily start the conversation. Nevertheless, people rarely discuss books with each other because tastes differ. There are too many various genres, authors in literature nowadays.

Analysing the data, I can outline the following problem that one can face studying literature. Books of good quality cost too much money. Paper books cost several thousand of rubles and e-books cost much money too. People may download illegal versions of these books but the quality of typing is too poor. To solve this problem, I consider that government should create a website with free literature: not only classical but with literature of modern writers and books in different fields of sciences.

To conclude, I suppose that the studying literature is very important. It helps people to be well-educated, sociable persons. It gives new opportunities for their jobs and professions. (254 слова)
