Let me tell you about a book I read recently. Its name is 1587, a Year of No Significance: The Ming Dynasty in Decline, which was written by a Chinese historian Ray Huang, first published in 1981. Though the book seems like a thesis, it’s very engaging and provoking because in this book it examines how a number of seemingly insignificant events in 1587 might have caused the downfall of the Ming Dynasty.
I bought the book in a bookshop in Nanjing when I was travelling there last month. The bookshop keeper told me that this book was always the best seller among the history category. And finally it turned out that it was really a page turner.
The book was about in-depth analysis of the traditional Chinese court politics during the Ming Dynasty by introducing the Emperor Wanli and other six prominent officials from the Ming ruling class. In each chapter it centres in an informative way on one man and moves through how they interact with the court and especially the emperor. In the end, it comes to the conclusion that the Ming emperor was not the ultimate power, but the massive Chinese bureaucracy which manipulated the entire Chinese political process and led the country to decline.

To be honest, i’m not a big fan of books because reading books makes me boring. But i was extremely interested in one book, its name » How to influence people». This book is all about how to give right decisions and teach me to react some conflicts. I mean, i’m not a perfect person before, i’m always try to win all arguments, may be with my friends, may be with my siblings as well as my parents. I fell satisfied whenever beat them. But after i finished reading this book, i think alot about my conflicts from the past, i hurt people by my speeches, i really need a change. As the result, i got all experiences that in this book and apply them in my current life. For example, i just silence while someone shout at me before i explain for them with a nice smile. I enjoyed this book because its useful for my life, it help me having more attractive with people around, change all arguments to peaceful conversations.

Well, I’m quite into a Chinese historic book named Things in Ming Dynasty, which has 7 series and I have completed it. Before I begin to read this book, my friend told me that the author described the history of Ming dynasty in a really humorous way, plus I’m really a big fan of history, thus I bought it on my kindle.When I was going through it, I fount it was quite into my taste. It has described a royal flourishment and decay including wars, political struggles, interesting issues with emperors and so on, which has really captured my historical imagination.

In 2015, I decided to read a blockbuster book that I had heard about that among university scholars. I was curious about the book. The name is “Blindness,” a novel by José Saramago. The book’s story is about living a couple in a city in which people are going blind one by one and what happens in these situations. While I was reading the novel, I was overwhelmed by the story so that if a critical condition like that happens in my town, what can I do.
The structure of the sentences and the gist of the story were such that it caught the attention of every reader. No one just read a page and leave the rest of it out.

I believe that there are only a few people today who don’t know A.P.J Abdul Kalam as one of the most brilliant minds and inspirational figures of the 21st century. Needless to say, I also like this prominent figure who was the 11th president of India. He had also written some famous books. Today I would like to talk about one of his famous books which I have recently read.
The name of this book is “Forge Your Future”. Originally published in October 2014, it has been acclaimed as one the most inspirational books of all time all over the world. The contents of this book are unique in the sense that it is based on the mails and the questions which were asked by several people all over the country to Mr Abdul kalam. On the other hands, Mr Kalam, as usual, in his own beautiful, simple yet without missing the point, gave solutions to the most complex questions that every young person go through in their lives.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to suggest that this book is a complete package or encyclopedia of all kinds of problems from individual to the nation, and Mr Kalam gave practical solutions to every problem based on the experiences and struggles of his own life. In fact, the message of this book is if a person like him can become educated, a prominent nuclear scientist and eventually the president of a great country like India, even after growing up on an isolated island of south India with sorts of obstacles, then anybody else can attain success with some effort.
I enjoyed reading this book primarily because it much relates to regular persons like me. Besides, I really enjoyed the way the author chose his words in a very simple way to explain some of the toughest of the problems, any person or nation can face. All in all, it is one of the most inspirational books I have ever read because these days, I also say that “yes, I can do it too”.

The book I have recently finished and enjoyed so much is called «The Fortunate Pilgrim», and I would like to talk about it for this topic.
It is a novel by Mario Puzo which was first published in the year 1965. The writer Mario Puzo is well-known for his famous mafia book «The Godfather». He, nevertheless, received numerous positive reviews for his book «The Fortunate Pilgrim». The writer had developed the story of this novel based on his mother’s immigration struggling for respectability in the United States. Mario Puzo himself considered this novel to be his finest though Godfather earned him much more fame and earning.
The novel tells the story of an immigrant family living in New York City. The mother of the family, Lucia Santa is the protagonist of it. It is her formidable will that steers the family members through the Great Depression and early years of World War II. The story, events, and the characters become so real that the readers can’t stop wondering about them even when they are not reading. The writer had been able to tell an ordinary story extraordinarily. It makes us feel and relate the characters, their happiness, sorrows and sufferings in our lives, and that’s why the characters and stories got the power to keep readers awake the whole night. Mario Puzo has shown literacy excellence in this story and it will keep on surprising readers in the coming decades.
I liked the book very much and finished it within 3 days. I have always been a great admirer of Puzo’s writing style, and «The Fortunate Pilgrim» was a bit different from his famous mafia books. It touches the reader’s mind, keeps them wondering and tells them an amazing story. So, I had every valid reason to enjoy this book to a great extent.

I find the book very powerful and deeply moving. It teaches people to find the inner strength to live in a tough world. It often helps me when I find myself in a difficult situation and I need an answer to some question. It is my great friend and teacher.

My favourite book belongs to one of the most well-known series “The famous five” and tells about the adventures of four children and their faithful dog.
The main characters of the book are siblings Julian, Dick and Ann and their cousin George who is actually a girl whose full name is Georgina. She is my favourite character of this book because of her extremely interesting personality and identity. She has a dog called Timmy who plays an important role in this story. The adventures of these children begin as soon as they arrive to live in Mr. Lenoir’s house. There they meet Mr. Lenoir’s son Sooty who quickly becomes their friend. The key point is that Timmy is not allowed to live in this house so the children have to keep him secretly in the tunnels beneath the house. Using these tunnels to walk Timmy they find out the mystery of smugglers and their criminal activity.
I find this book really fascinating. It keeps your attention from the first page and it’s difficult to predict what is going to happen next. It’s especially interesting to understand who is who and find out the criminals in the end. The children get into troubles constantly and you’re worried about them all the time. I recommend reading this book to all teenagers who are keen on such kind of literature. It is going to blow you away.

I like reading books. It is the significant part of my everyday life. I am a real bookworm. I have a big home library. There you can find works of different authors and genres.
I have many favourite books but the most favourite one is the book “The Count of Monte Cristo” written by French author Alexandre Dumas in 1844. It is an adventure novel and one of the most popular works of Alexandre Dumas.
The story is about young man Edmond Dantes who was arrested on his wedding day and imprisoned without trial. Before his arrest he was the first mate of the captain of the ship “Pharaon”. He loved a girl, whose name was Mercedes, and his feeling was mutual. However three men hated Edmond and decided to make him be framed up for treason. They could do that and Edmond was imprisoned. Fortunately, thanks to his fellow prisoner old Faria, Edmond managed to escape and could find the treasure. As rich and mysterious Count of Monte Cristo he was back to France. His aim was to avenge himself on those three men for destroying his life.
When I read this book for the first time, I completely agreed with all actions of Dantes. Then I was only 16 years old. However many years later I read this book one more time. And as an adult I would say that sometimes the revenge of Dantes was too severe. I changed my point of view concerning many problems raised in the book.
Nevertheless, I like the main character and sympathise him. I recommend this book to everyone.
